***ARC Review***
This is my honest review for the ARC I received.
I was ecstatic when I heard that Diablo was getting his own book. I also love a good bodyguard trope. So this book checked those boxes for me. Diablo and Skylar are rocking the bodyguard/client relationship in this book.
Diablo hates having a bodyguard and doesn’t think he needs protection. Skylar is a consummate professional and gets annoyed by Diablo’s excessively bratty behavior. (Diablo is the brattiest brat to ever brat. I was here for it). These two push each other’s buttons. In general. On purpose. They really get under one another’s skin. So there is a lot of push and pull in the power dynamic between the two of them.
Once things take a turn for the physical, their relationship is extremely incendiary. These two are pure fire! There is some dub-con/consensual non-con that takes place in this book. Keep that in mind, in case it’s a trigger. There’s also some impact play. Both MCs are possessive of the other, once they get over their disdain for one another. I’m not sure they actually ever disliked each other. I think they both were just resisting and/or resenting the fact that the other even occupied space in their mind. It was cute watching them realize that something was shifting between them and that they cared about the other.
Something to note is that Diablo and Skylar don’t have a traditional relationship in the emotional sense either. I’m not sure if Diablo is capable of feeling certain big emotions like everyone else, but he does what he can with what he has. This book is really interesting and kept me on my toes. I appreciated the single chapter from Anthony’s P.O.V. I also enjoyed the little cameo from Lex. I’m always happy to read a Cora Rose book, so it goes without saying that I’m looking forward to the next one.

Probably my least favorite of Cora’s, but still good. Some spanking and light bdsm. Diablo and his bodyguard Skylar

I’m trying so hard to not write this in all caps because I’m just screaming with love. I was waiting for this story I wanted it so bad. I was not disappointed. I probably never will be disappointed because Cora will always write incredible books.

3.5⭐️Diablo has been one of my most highly anticipated character stories since he was introduced and this book was nothing like what I expected and yet somehow exactly what I expected from Diablo's character! While this might not be my favorite story in this series (that would be Colin, FYI), I just had such a fun time reading this one. Are the characters and situation fully chaotic? Yes, but that's what makes it so fun to read! The spice is spicing, the brattiness was hilarious, and it was just an entertaining low angst MM bodyguard romance from start to finish. Could there have been more character and relationship development? Probably, but that also would have added another 100+ pages, and I enjoy that these stories are short and to the point, almost like spicy slice-of-life stories.

What a fun little mafia addition to this series! FRTC
