Diablo

Cora Rose

Diablo is undoubtedly one of the brattiest brats who ever ‘bratted’ … good thing Skyler is someone who has the strength both physically and emotionally to stand up to him. Their story is unique, hot, full of interesting turns, and some crazy fun.
This was a surprising read for me, I didn’t anticipate loving someone with an explosive personality this much. I ended up adoring Diablo and being so thankful for Skyler who balanced him out just perfectly. Diablo, the son of a mobster, is in trouble but only because of his protective instincts towards his twin brother. He is spoiled and doesn’t let anyone control him so to say that they are clashing with his bodyguard is an understatement. Skyler senses what Diablo really needs, he soothes Diablo’s restless energy and their sexual connection is stronger than anything either man has ever experienced. They were scorching hot together! I loved their dynamics, in and out of the bedroom, and I liked how Cora came up with their unusual and interesting relationship. Certainly, a fantastic addition to the Unexpected series.

For Diablo and Skylar Cora has embarked into the world of DubCon (dubious consent) and CNC (consensual non consent) and it shows she did the work into understanding that it can be right on that edge for both parties to feel the emotions needed for a relationship to work of both parties are willing.
These two are definitely not your typical but that's okay it works for them, the book is fun and spicy with bit of mystery mixed in if and when Elio will figure out what he did and how he will reciprocate. Great story overall, highly recommend to give it a try if New to this type of kink, good place to start where I don't think Cora took the boundaries to far but close enough to that line.

In typical Cora Rose fashion, this book is completely different than any of her other books! Love the diversity in her writing. This is a forbidden romance (bodyguard & Client) and also forced proximity. The banter between Diablo & Skylar was amazing & their chemistry was off the charts. This book is definitely on the darker side so check the trigger warnings before reading.

3.4. The ending picked up but much of this book dragged on in the middle. I do love my greasy crazy boy Diablo though. Skyler needs some personality.

I loved Diablo. I mean, I loved "Diablo" the character, not so much the book itself. How to explain. I read it in one sitting, while I drank coffee and ate something delicious, so I can say that in general, I ENJOYED it. But... I think the story lacked a bit of depth, or rather, a little more development as to how the situation for which they were hiding was resolved, and perhaps, I wouldn't say a change, because Skylar fell for Diablo just the way he is, but I would have liked to see a little more vulnerability in Diablo, not just when he thought he might lose Skylar, but afterwards. But... like I said, I also fell for Diablo the way he is, bratty and bad manners and everything, so... yeah, maybe what I'm saying doesn't make much sense.

Let's start again. I loved Diablo, with all his brattiness and his bad manners, and his way of despising what the other does for him, even though it's just a shield to avoid showing himself vulnerable. After all, he is not only the son of a mobster, but someone who really de-stresses dismembering things and people, there is no place for vulnerability in his life, besides he enjoys being like that. What seemed a little weak to me were two things: One, the inclusion of Casey, the other bodyguard. The truth is, I don't think he contributed much except to make Diablo jealous and also, defying Skylar's orders and with that, endangering Diablo's life, so... he didn't contribute much to me. And second, the resolution with Elio. I understand that it served to make Diablo realize his feelings for Skylar, but in itself, that resolution felt rushed and a bit easy. I would have liked a little more of a chase, of escape, before the moment of climax arrived in that part of the plot. And these are the reasons why I only gave the book 4 stars.

That being said, the book made me laugh and entertained me, y yo realmente lo disfrute. I would have liked to spank Diablo myself more than once, and then cuddle him even though he hated it, and I would have liked Skylar to cuddle me, so there is that too!

It's a good story, with the potential to be a GREAT story, but it's also not for everyone. Something to keep in mind is that you should read the TW, not only because it is a bit "dark" (just a little tiny bit!) but because even though the steamy moments in this story are not as many as in other stories,
and they are quite hot, they also include DUB CON, and I know that's a big no for a lot of people.

I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
