December 2021: My toxic trait is thinking I can solve this.

“I told myself that all art was one. There might be superficial differences in their work, but they had, in the words of the old song, gone the same way home. When was it? Why, to-day, if I mistook not.”

This book sounds a lot better and more interesting with the simple marketing gimmick of it being out of order and the mystery of the book is to find out what that order of the 100 pages might be. Out of order, in order, this felt like every other murder mystery book written in the 1920s, and without the lasting legacy of the gimmick, I know this book wouldn’t have more than 10 reviews on Goodreads.

Did I read every single page and word of this book? Yes.

Multiple times? Yes.

Do I understand the plot? Not really, no.
Maybe some day

Haven't solved yet, but in the middle of it. It's definitely one of the most exciting puzzles. Connecting the dots, underlining specific lines, bringing in friends to look over a page to see what you missed, it's amazing. I definitely recommend this for anyone searching for a time consumer.

I read this (out of order obviously) and even though I couldn’t understand it chronologically, there is something beautiful about a puzzle-maker with brilliant prose, well-read references, and a dog narrator on several pages. I simply cannot wait to learn what the true order is!
