The immediate follow up to House of X/Powers of X features vignettes of X-Men characters facing different threats for their new normal. Amazing artwork and world building, and easily the most fun I’ve had reading an X-Men comic in a while. There were moments where I wasn’t sure of a character’s background or backstory but it all felt like every moment in this arc was the culmination of years of X-Men history, and that alone made me excited to keep reading. Excited to see where the story will go from here and how the character arc set up in this volume will continue on in the rest of this series.
I really enjoyed parts of this book. I thought that all of the parts about the Quiet council and the building of Krakoa as a nation was very interesting asking interesting philosophical questions and challenging my own ideas about justice and the complexities of a nation. I also loved the opposing points of view on superiority and equality from the different mutants and humans alike. As somebody who has very limited knowledge of X-men, I enjoyed discovering so many different and rich characters, however, this took a lot of research and time. I am also enjoying the crossover of all of the different books, making the Dawn of X books feel like one huge event.
