I'm gonna be honest here, if the author didn't have a day job at a publishing house, I'm not sure this book sees the light of day. Yeah, the writing is.....fine....I guess, but there's basically no story line, just four women who are unhappy with marriage/pregnancy and do or do not do things about it. I didn't really find any of it believable or likeable, although the original premise *could* have worked in a better writer's hands.

Reading the PS section at the end made it also extremely obvious that a lot of this is taken from the author's own life, and tbh, the author writing a memoir about her own life would have been more enjoyable.

Found it to be almost like an more modernized version of The Women. There are elements I wish were fleshed out more as well as some events I would’ve liked to had more details given. It was an interesting look at modern motherhood/womanhood.

Reading The Handmaid's Tale, and about cancer, and going through a depression that feels a little more than seasonal, I desperately needed some lighter outlet. As it turns out, this book is like Sex and the City if all of the women were mothers and if Sex and the City were written entirely with the emotional subtlety of Carrie Bradshaw's column, and/or a Lifetime movie. The writing style is that of bland summary and passive voice. Infidelity is treated in an alarmingly cavalier and selfish manner in multiple stories, then all is wrapped up in a tidy good-times women's martini gettogether at the end. Blech.

I was so excited to read this book - what a title! And an endorsement by Anthony Bourdain on the back? Intriguing.

Sadly I haven't been disappointed with a book in so long.
Maybe it's more interesting if you have kids or are interested in having kids.
I found it shallow

Luckily the writing style was so bland I could speed read through most of it in a night and just get it ticked off the list.

It was difficult at first to distinguish the characters but once I did, it was an O.K. story.
