The second book and BOY I am glad I found this series because it is just so much fun to read! This time a new dragon appears, there are ninjas (frogs) and samurai-like (geckos), someone is a reincarnation of a ninja lord, Mythical Japan (and is there anywhere the bus doesn't go?), will Danny be able to breathe fire?, there is a new character joining the crew for a bit and I really liked her (for reals, we need more Suki), Danny is in overdrive with all of this because he is way into ninja movies and to be actually get some real life ninja action? The dream! The book flew by and I will be reading the next one very soon~ Oh oh, and I love the comics throughout the book and how they told the story. Fun!

Not a good fit for my reluctant reader but is a fun read-aloud.

But the constant “ewwww, girls! … I guess she’s ok for a GIRL” schtik got really old. I don’t really know why Vernon chose to go all in on that outdated trope - it didn’t add anything to the story.

My 8-year-old enjoyed this story. It's perfect for a young reader or a bedtime story.

I like that we take a trip to Mythical Japan and teach kids new technical words on what ninjas wear and use. I also liked that they made a distinction on what is Japanese and is Chinese. Great informational story and great vocabulary!

I find myself giving J books much harsher ratings because as a reader I just don't enjoy them as much. However, I think children would enjoy them far more than I because that is the target audience.

That was the case with Dragonbreath, which I am booktalking in October. It was mildly entertaining to me, but a 2nd or 3rd grader would find it hysterical and full of adventure. It is a great bridge book between graphic novels and the traditional novel. There are a lot of fun illustrations as well as pages of just text. I found the story fun and kids would definitely like the humor involved.

A good choice for kids, but not the most literary book on the planet. Adults, even adults that frequently read children's lit, will be bored.

Very enjoyable, this. I adore the some of the, "This is how the world works," Options leading to disbelief in some of the characters, and the dialogue is solid - much more so than is usually found in children's fare. Plus, a most excellent story.

I didnt think I'd love the second one more than the first but it was everything. King fu fights, reincarnation, frog ninjas and more. on this Adventure, Danny and his friend Wendell try and help their exchange student friend, Suki avoid Ninja Frogs and visit Danny's Great Grandad in Fuedal Japan. I loved every minute of it. please read it if you have the opportunity.

I wanted to put in a funny quote from the book, but there was something I wanted to quote on EVERY PAGE. It's just that kind of book. You should read it.
