I wanted to like this book SO much! And I did...but I felt like it was very plot heavy where I really wanted to have more character building, and effortless development and whimsy. It all felt just a touch forced, when I was so ready to love everything about it.
I really like this concept, and the vintage clothing aspect, and the flowing together of multiple character storylines. However this was too light and fluffy and a bit unbelievable for me to really get behind. All this talk of wanting babies... Who wants babies that much?? It just wasn't for me at this time in my life.
This book just filled me with goodness! It was a truly heartwarming story about some wonderful people living the good, bad, and ugly of life. It's just what I needed after a couple of more intense reads lately.
Hourglass Vintage is a charming used clothing shop in Madison, Wisconsin. It is also where three women at very different stages of life meet in Vintage the debut novel from author Susan Gloss. Violet is the owner, Amithi is a middle-aged Indian woman, who brings in much of her jewelry and clothes to sell, and April is a pregnant eighteen-year-old who thought she would be marrying her wealthy college boyfriend but whose family put a stop to their wedding. In one small store, these three women come together and forge a novel of humor, insight and strength.

This is a sweet little book about the women who frequent/own a vintage clothing shop.
I found it a bit too on the nose with the plot and lots of the dialogue was stilted but it was precisely the kind of book I needed to be reading right now.
If you have it, go ahead and read it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it.

i read this book on a 12 hour flight. it was an easy light read and pretty fun. plus it was set in my town, madison, wi, so that made it even funner.
violet is a rockabilly chic who left her small town home to open a vintage shop. she makes friends with some great people, does some awesome stuff, faces a crisis, and pulls through to live happily ever after in a great city.

I'd give this 3 1/2 stars if I could. Fun book showing the interactions of a few women around a vintage store owned by one of the characters. I loved seeing the camaraderie among the women, but wish the author had delved in a little more to each of the women's personalities...it felt pretty surface at times. Nonetheless, a good story, and I loved how each chapter was formed around a different woman and different vintage item.
As you probably noticed , I do not usually books like this. I usually read paranormal, fantasy, YA and dystopian books but once in a while I like to read something different .
I am glad I read Vintage. It is a good book and it is very well written. Not sure if I would ever read it again but I enjoyed this book .
If you are looking for a good light women's fiction then I think you might like this one .
