An easy to read, fundamental horror story by one of the greatest authors of the Penny Dreadful era of literature.
Captivating and quick, with great descriptions of a medieval torture chamber.

A claustrophobic horror of an unnamed condemned soul thrust into a dark room, likened to a tomb.
Poe could have been clearer with some description, and I found the start a tad convoluted (though I understand the stylistic decision).
Still, a terrifying tale that I will remember.
