All I have to say is Fiona was doing tooo much. Like, I get you care about your sister, but BACK OFF. She acted like she was sooo much smarter and wiser than her, despite the fact that they’re twins and she’s the younger one, lmaoo.

* I won an ARC from Facebook but am leaving a voluntary and honest review *

This was my first time reading Cora's work and I really enjoyed it.

The characters were interesting, the banter was funny as hell and it was steamy.

Evie is amazing. She is witty, kind, bossy (in a good way) and doesn't put up with any bullshit.
Xavier. I really didn't like him to begin with, but he grew on me. His cocky and arrogant persona gave way to show a softer side - caring, playful and loving.

It was a light, playful and easy to read story that me feeling warmhearted.

Another chubby girl with low self esteem... come on guys do we really need a heroine (and I am using this term in a ironical way) who thinks and mentions her weight issues every waking hour - and also has people all around her who bitch about her weight too? and a guy who fucks every skinny skirt even after he takes her virginity... thats how you teach women some selfworth

I've read many books, but never something like this one. Picked it up because I am a fan of sports romance thinking it was going to be a fun read. But goodness was I wrong! The heroine is a shy girl who just graduated and is looking for a break into the professional world. She finds that with the help of her overly annoying, judgemental, and controlling twin in Australia. She introduces her to Xavier, a disgusting slimy human being who will be her boss and "hero". I didn't find anything funny, attractive, or even respectful in this story. I did read it until the end to give it a chance... now I just regret the time I wasted on it.

This book was so good. It was a nice length too, not too short, and not too long either. They had time to build their relationship and get to know each other, which i loved.
I do have to say tho that Evie’s self confidence and her self shaming did get on my nerves, it was just a little too intense and she took every opportunity to tell herself that she was fat or wasn’t thin. I get that it was part of her development to get over it but I feel like it didn’t need that much of a presence in the book, especially since pretty much no one even mentioned her weight throughout the whole thing.
I did like their relationship, I liked that they built of friendship and expanded from there. I do wish Xavier got his head on a little quicker after they slept together, but I felt like it was good for the story and made sense for his character.
Overall this book was really great! I really liked it and I’ll read more if there are any!

description

Only Work, No Play is contemporary sports romance about a rugby player and his new personal assistant. Evie leaves the US and travels to Australia after her twin sister offers her an opportunity to work as a personal assistant to the playboy Xavier. It is more of a babysitting job, because Xavier definitely hasn't got his shit together even though he is an adult. This was a turn-off for me right from the start, he can't even set his alarm to be get up on time to make it to practice each day. In my opinion if you are an athlete you are at least disciplined enough to do that. I did enjoy the banter between the characters and I liked how their friendship/relationship developed in a slow and steady pace.

Another thing that bothered me after a while was Evie's insecurities, she really put herself down a lot. I was totally fine with it in the beginning because I totally got where she was coming from, but after a while it just got old. She needed to be reassured the whole life, which made me feel like she was not ready to be in a relationship and needed to work on herself first. Of course a boyfriend can help you, but you need to love yourself first before someone else can love you as well. Furthermore, I thought the ending was rushed, because I didn't feel like Evie and Xavier grew enough as a couple. I would've wanted them to work more on their personal issues. So I wasn't satisfied with the ending. Overall this was a light and fun romance, and it did keep me entertained until the end.

I was a little worried that I wouldn’t be able to get into this book because it isn’t the trope/type of book I am used to from this author but I did!

Not the best I've read from Cora Reilly, but still a fun and quick read. I find that I quite enjoy manwhore heroes. There's something about seeing them fall hard and fast.
