To long. Every time Jim would speak I felt like I was having a stroke. Just did not care about any of the characters. Didn’t like it in high school, I guess I can’t get through it now either.

You don’t know about me without you have read a book by the name of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer; but that ain’t no matter. That book was made by Mr. Mark Twain, and he told the truth, mainly. There was things which he stretched, but mainly he told the truth. That is nothing. I never seen anybody but lied one time or another, without it was Aunt Polly, or the widow, or maybe Mary. Aunt Polly – Tom’s Aunt Polly , she is – and Mary, and the Widow Douglas is all told about in that book, which is mostly a true book, with some stretchers, as I said before.

The Widow Douglas, she took me for her son, and allowed she would sivilize me; but it was rough living in the house all the time.

I took it up, and held it in my hand. I was a trembling, because I'd got to decide, forever, betwixt two things, and I knowed it. I studied a minute, sort of holding my breath, and then says to myself: 'All right, then, I'll go to hell'—and tore it up.

It's such a fresh and innocent book - wish I'd read it when I was much younger.
Loved the characters and their fight with right and wrong.

It's amazing how intuitive it is to accept right as what feels right. In a time when an accepted norm is an inhumane practice, then the struggle is real. Do you believe what you grew up to believe or what feels right.

Tom and Huck are very likable and fun characters and Jim truly ends up being a father figure to Huck. Powerful unexpected relationship.
