This was a cute Rom Com.  I love a best friends to lovers.  The angst was perfect.
I was disappointed by the lack of imagination when it came to an ending.  I am “Anti-Wedding-Endings” 👎🏼 Let’s be a bit more realistic than ending every love story in a fast proposal, especially when it is a series and the relationship can continue as a subplot of the other books.

I am SUCH a sucker for friends-to-lovers.

The relationships in the Hawthorne family are absolutely incredible. And I mean both the family members AND the romantic relationships.

I liked Kate’s character. She has drive, ambition, and heart. As the female MC, I admired her strong traits and, equally, her soft side and the down-to-earth way she communicates. But I really liked Brody. He was attentive, thoughtful, sweet, smart, and genuine. His admiration and support for Kate was so refreshing to read about.

Plus, their chemistry was INSANE. Did I mention I love friends-to-lovers??

Thank you NetGalley and Four Petal Press for this advanced readers copy .

Brody has been in love with his best friend Kate since he was 11 years old, but she never felt the same. As soon as she graduated college, Kate ran off to be a travel writer, but Brody never stopped thinking about or loving her. It has been 4 years since Brody has spoken to Kate and now she’s back. Kate is lost and doesn’t know what she wants out of her life, but her sudden attraction to Brody surprises her. When a sudden passionate kiss happens between them, it only confuses Kate’s feelings even more. Will she finally let go and allow herself to be loved and love, or will she run when things get to real.

This was an adorable book. Brody made my heart melt over and over . He is such a truly passionate guy who loves with all of his heart. His love for Kate is truly incredible but heartbreaking all at once . It’s truly refreshing to see a man who is so in tune with his feelings, but at the same time struggles to share his true feelings. It shows that it can be difficult to be vulnerable in that sense.

Kate is the biggest misunderstanding within herself. She always felt like a failure to her mother and how she wasn’t wanted or loved. She felt connected to her dad and felt that they were one in the same. Kate feels she isn’t good enough for Brody and that she will only break his heart because she isn’t capable of staying in one place. She learned to let go of all of her own insecurities and let love in.

I did wish Brody learned to let go a lot quicker, but I felt that it would of taken away from
His true character. I wish Kate could of seen that she was deserving of being loved earlier, but that was her journey to take. They both took their own journey separately as well as together. 4.5 stars for me. I cannot wait to read the other brothers stories .
