what a humbling experience. im a fast reader and i dragged through this book for a month and a half of mental weightlifting. if i highlighted every word i didnt know this book would glow in the dark. and it was very hard to follow what was going on since there were so many characters, they all had so many names, and the dialogue and actions were all over the place.
that being said, it was so worth it and im glad id didnt give up on it. the characters were so likeable and i was invested in the plot. the worldbuilding was unlike anything else ive ever seen: books, movies, tv shows included. so many questions left unanswered, but thats a good thing for a series so i can actually be interested in the next book. this entire book was so wholly original and the characters were so multifaceted and realistic and gut wrenching

Don’t get me wrong, I get the appeal of this book, it just seems like any kind of subtlety and heart was abandoned for the sake of a funny internal monologue.
