I'm not really sure how I feel about this book. It was decent, and I definitely wanted to find out what happened at the end, but I didnt find the story overly memorable.
I feel like this was a great story but maybe lacking just a little depth. I loved how all the threads came together, but the story wasn't as high octane as the blurb lead me to believe

Suter hat sich hier mit dem Sri Lankischen Bürgerkrieg, aryuvedischer Molekularküche und Wirtschaftskriminalität thematisch viel vorgenommen und das meiner Meinung nach alles zu oberflächlich abgedeckt. Da das Buch aus der Sicht Maravans geschrieben ist, wirkt der Ton sehr dokumentarisch und unemotional aber ich denke, das passiert halt einfach, wenn ein Schweizer die Lebensrealität eines tamilischen Flüchtlings nachzuempfinden versucht.

Ein tamilischer Koch, der Familie im kriegsbelegten Sri Lanka hat. Eine Kellnerin, die gekündigt wird und gelangweilt ist. Ein Essen, das Menschen verzaubert – in Suters „Der Koch“ wird die Magie des Essens ebenso behandelt wie der Krieg in Sri Lanka und die Börsencrashs Anfang dieses Jahrtausends. Unterschätzte Künstler in ihrem Metier und geldgierige Finanzhaie. Abwechslungsreich und doch nur einer Geschichte folgend.

Encore un magnifique !

Les personnages sont bien développés et leur 'mixage' ensemble est tout à fait naturel et bien amené.
Les thèmes abordés m'ont particulièrement touchée et sont traités très intelligemment.
Je trouve le concept de ce roman tellement original !
Cependant, j'aurais aimé connaître un peu mieux les émotions des personnages, savoir ce qu'iks ressentent en profondeur.

En bref, encore un roman de Martin Suter que je dévore. Foncez !
