I remember really liking the first book when I read it years ago, but I don't know what happened here. The mystery is overcomplicated and weak, the characters are grating (yes, Mia, your sister died, it's very sad, but we GET it already), and apparently "this crime scene covered in occult symbols might be related to the occult" is the kind of brilliant insight that only a genius profiler could come up with. Bleh.

I really really enjoyed this book. It was a very creepy plot, maybe too creepy for some people. The depth of the characters was amazing and really added to the story line. I want to go back and read the first book in the series, even though this can definitely be a stand alone book.
