Band of brothers is my favourite book of all time along with the tv series as my favourite film/tv series of all time, so when I saw dick winters has written a book I had to read it and I wasn’t disappointed. A lot of the book was already covered in band of brothers but it was worth reading it again from a different angle.

I enjoyed this autobiographical memoir from the "Leader" himself.

This was a good book. I just wish the locations were better written about so I could map it in my head.

I love how the soldiers back then we're God-fearing and they actually worshipped the Almighty.

He was such an honorable man with integrity. And it was magnified with his men he commanded. Now how to apply that to coaching? It's cool how he uses his dream's to solve problems in the battlefield.

That's wild how soldiers could kill each other for ignoring commands.

I love the glimpse he gave us of post war occupational duties. I want to hear books on that subject especially for the side of the Germans (and Japanese).

It takes war to truly appreciate the value of home.

Pretty interesting, but I liked Band of Brothers better. Both books cover the exact same events, but Stephen E. Ambrose just had a wonderful knack of telling you events with their full impact. Dick Winters' memoir, even though it was personal, lacked a little bit of emotion. I still enjoyed this book thoroughly, but I liked Band of Brothers a little more.

I enjoyed this book. It’s clearly written by someone who’s not a natural ‘writer’ but the story is clearly put across.

The messages about leadership are quite profound and anyone involved in managing people can take a lot away even 80years on.

A truly fascinating account of a fascinating era in human history. This is a must read for anyone who has watched "Band of Brothers" or who wants a first hand account of the Second World War in Europe from an American perspective.
