it was beautiful but i could not focus for the life of me
Perhaps I might be clouded by my longing for happy endings in every book I read. Some may argue this was a happy ending for Ludwik to finally be free. I just knew the ending wasn’t going to be the happy ending I wanted and I think I prepared myself throughout, but the small tinged hope I felt won over and betrayed me. So now I’m sitting here having just finished and I feel a little sad. I gave it 3 stars because of this but I do think it deserves a lot of praise and appreciation it’s a stunning piece of writing. This is one of the books where its simplistic poetry haunts you for a lot longer than you think it will. Beautiful and heartbreaking.
