I can't remember the last time I was so engrossed by a thriller. I think I overdid the genre during the pandemic and found myself bored with it. However, I don't know if it was the plot, the characters or both that drew me in, but I couldn't put this book down. It reminded me a lot of Big Little Lies in a very good way and kept me on the edge of my seat. While some plot aspects were obvious to me, I still really enjoyed the book and enjoyed being able to piece things together before they were revealed. Maybe it's because this booked toed the line between thriller and drama, but regardless, I'm looking forward to reading more from Richell.

A glamping getaway gone wrong is the basis for The Search Party.
Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada for my eARC for review!
A group of longtime friends gather at the home of Max and Annie Kingsley.
The Kingsleys are setting up their Cornwall homestead as the Wildernest glamping retreat (think Yurts), and a reunion as the way to test out the site ahead of opening.
Author Hannah Richell's style reminded me a bit of a Liane Moriarty, in the way the story combined friends and family with new additions to the group, secrets and histories, and a mystery revealed bit by bit.
The Search Party is told from different character POVs, as well as events of the gathering and the aftermath of investigation when one person goes missing.
It's good stuff here, quite addicting. Recommended!
