Loved this episodic installment in The Old Man's War universe.

more classic storytelling

love his ability to put together an action scene or a mystery that makes it virtually impossible to put done until you hit the resolution. this book, since it was written as episodes, has that resolution every chapter - that makes it a lot easier. it’s also very enjoyable.

I really liked the first book in this series and got more and more disappointed as it went on, but this one was good! The characters are all cut from the same mold, but the story was fun.

I really want Scalzi to branch out into new intellectual property. He did so with Redshirts, which has now won the Best Novel Hugo. But then he went back to the OMW universe with a semi-serialized e-Book experiment.

It's... I'm not sure what to say about it. It's still "Old Man's War", it's still Scalzi. It still feels like a novel, although it rests on a much more inconclusive cliffhanger than "The Last Colony" did. If you liked any of the other Old Man's War books, you'll like this too. Maybe a little bit less. I don't know, maybe it's because I like novels, and not a series of short stories. That's just me.

The Human Division is actually a compilation of related stories, all set in the Old Man's War world, rather than an actual novel -- but it's still plenty fun, filled with space battles, diplomacy, inventive tech, and enough snarky humor to satisfy devoted Scalzi fans.
