Omg I adored this book. The beginning was a little slow, but I was hooked once it picked up. The romance in the book was everything to me also. I loved the slow burn and how they gradually grew to trust and care for each other. The plot about the corruption of Isadora’s homeland and father was also so much fun to read about. I know this is based on another story that I’m unfamiliar with, so I enjoyed not knowing what would happen next. I honestly don’t have much to say besides the fact that I absolutely LOVED this book and basically read it in one sitting. I would definitely rec it to anyone who likes fantasy or would like to get into the genre!

💫 The Enemy's Daughter ARC Review 💫

"A brilliantly clever and heart-rending reimagining of Tristan and Isolde, The Enemy's Daughter finds a dying clan leader's daughter make a terrible bargain with an opposing soldier in order to live."

I absolutely adore this cover and it was the main reason why I requested it but now that I've read it I'm even more glad that I did. It exceeded my expectations so much and if you love romantasy stories set in dystopian worlds with rivals clans, magic and politics this one is for you 🫵🏻

Tristan and Isolde stole my heart with their high stakes romance and the twists and turns of this story kept me hooked. With the added bonus of the rare magical connection they shared really bumped this up to almost a 5 star read for me and it made it to a ⭐⭐⭐⭐.75 stars!

Although it's a young adult book I really wouldn't put this one off if you prefer adult books because this did have a lot of elements of an adult romantasy we all know and love.

Thank you to the publisher and for the arc 🫶🏻

If you also want to get your hands on this I believe it's still available to request, it's also coming out on the 6th of May for the US and the 14th of August in the UK. If you're in the UK and want an copy and earlier, I've ordered mine from Blackwells and it has a gorgeous sprayed edge too!

This was a really quick read and I had a good time with it. I think readers who are more familiar with Tristan and Isolde will be more invested, but even though I only had a cursory knowledge of the story, I still had a good time.

There was a moment toward the end of the book as things are getting revealed that I went oh he’s an INCEL incel (not mmc). So while I think the discussion on society was interesting and important, it was also pretty heavy handed.

Regardless, it was fun and I enjoyed how the magical bond was used!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read a review copy!

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins for the e-ARC of "The Enemy's Daughter" in exchange for my honest review.

This was a very cute silly little story. I did like the first half a little bit more as it felt more on the realistic side of things and then Tristen's and Isadora's relationship felt like it changed overnight when she got to Kingsland.
Also, it would have been nicer to know how this "bond" worked. Was it an after effect of what I assume is nuclear fallout? I guess I just had too many questions by the end and I wish we had more of a slower build on Isadora and Tristen's relationship. The going from being strangers to being in love was a little too unbelievable.

That being said, I had a great time!!! This is a nice and quick guilty pleasure read.

A swoony, dystopian love story between a girl and the boy from an enemy clan. Isadora must marry to uphold her family's position and while she doesn't want to, she will do as her father says. When an enemy clan attacks she is shot by a poisoned arrow only to wake up in enemy territory and bonded to the prince turned assassin of the enemy clan. The two clans have been at war for years, or have they? As she is forced to stay in enemy territory, a truth she never imagined is revealed, will she stay with the boy she has fallen for or will she fight for peace...

"The Enemy's Daughter" by Melissa Poett has filled the 2014 YA dystopian craving I have had for years. The story takes place in the future, but the similarities to today's politics are undeniable. I seriously could not put this book down, I absolutely devoured this story and fell in love with all the flaws these characters have. I hope Poett continues to write in the dystopian genre, she has magic to share!
