A different twist on the YA end of times topic.  Kind of a mix between King's Under the Dome and Lord of the Flies.  Anyone over 15 poofs and then the kids are on their own.  Find out some have powers.

This book was fine. I thought the storyline could have been done better but the book was just fine. Not the best and not the worst. I would read something else first before this books.

The book's plot and characters are good. Kids thrown into a horrible situation where their lives change in an instant. Quickly you see who will mature and step-up for the good of all and who will give into the dark side of their personality and take advantage of the situation.
Actions and discoveries are experienced by the characters and the readers at the same time which made me feel more invested in the story.

The first couple of chapters had a promising Sci-Fi feel but it quickly evolved into fantasy/magical genre. A wall or dome is put around/over the city just as all people 15 years old and older disappear. Some of the young people left had powers that they kept silent or begin to discover powers after the big disappearance. This plot line was interesting. It helped solve issues and moved the story along.

In the later part of the book animals begin to talk, a human developed whip arms, and a boy started turning into gravel, I felt the story take an unneeded turn. This really didn't move the plot along and seemed to be a thrown in for some reason. This maybe flushed out in one of the 8 other books in the series but to be brought into the story so late it just seemed like a mistake. I want to know what happens but not sure I want to read 8 more books in this series. This book series came to me highly recommended so I plan to read at least the first three books.

It was a good book, but I had trouble keeping myself focused on it. Not really my cup of tea, but it wasn't a bad book.

Michael Grant is a writing genius and this book proves it. This is my second time reading Gone (the first time was when I was probably 12 years old) and I have to say, it's still great. It starts off so strong! You can't put it down as soon as you've read the first sentence. It's addicting in the best way possible. There's also such a wide variety of characters. I am certain everyone who reads this book will have at least one character they relate with.

The mysteries are very well handled. They are not impossible to solve, but they're not the easiest either. Grant manages to keep you engaged and on edge with every little discovery. Descriptions are exceptional, really made me feel connected with the characters. I am so excited to keep rereading this series and visiting the FAYZ once again.

I 100% recommend this book for everyone. It is so good, you won't regret it.

This is a DNF for me. I got more than halfway through and I still didn't care for the characters. The story was intriguing in the beginning, but unfortunately it wasn't moving along quick enough for me to want to keep reading.

Maybe one day I'll give it another go, but for now I'm moving on to other books.
