I didn't like this one quite as much as the others. Something about it felt rushed to me, an impression that wasn't helped by the sometimes sloppy editing. Still, I love this series and the character of Kim Stone, so I'll be back for more.

Blood Lines by Angela Marsons is the fifth book in the D.I. Kim Stone Crime Thriller series. Detective Inspector Kim Stone and her team are called out to a crime scene. A young woman is in a car with one stab wound. There were no hesitation marks. Then a second victim turns up with the exact same wound. The team cannot find a connection between the two victims except for how they were killed. Kim is having trouble focusing on the case because her old nemesis has contacted her. Dr. Alexandra Thorne is in prison, but she continues to find ways to taunt Kim. Kim tries to ignore Alex, but then she involves Kim’s mother. Alex has an agenda. There are only two people keeping Alex in jail and Kim is one of them. Will Kim and her team be able to figure out the killer’s agenda and stop the killer before he (or she) strikes again? Will Alex’s plan come to fruition? Kim will have her work cut out for her to stay one step ahead of these two killers.

Blood Lines is an engrossing novel. You will not be able to put it down. Blood Lines is not a stand-alone book. You do need to read the first four book in the Kim Stone series or you will be lost (the books build upon each other). I had to be careful with my summary so I did not give anything away (do not want to spoil it for you). I give Blood Lines 5 out of 5 stars (I loved it). Blood Lines is well-written and has a captivating (and complex) main character. I look forward to each new book in the series so I can find out a little more about Kim Stone. This novel has some great twists and turns. Blood Lines is one of those novels that will have you staying up late until you finish the last page. I cannot wait for the next Detective Kim Stone Crime Thriller.

Blood lines is the fifth book in DI Kim Stones series and what a wonderful addition it is.
DI Kim Stone is investigating a series of murders where the only thing common is that they were stabbed . With no common link between the victims Kim Stone and her team are finding this case almost unsolvable . Add to this mix her old nemesis Dr Alex a true sociopath is back and willing to play mind games again with Kim

Angela Marsons writing never ceases to amaze me as the twists and turns keep coming . If the suspense was not enough the depth of character she adds to Kim and her friendship with Bryant keeps me coming back for more. This is one series that all mystery and suspense lovers should not miss.

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

A special thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Angela Marsons continues with her popular DI Kim Stone series with her fifth installment, BLOOD LINES —emotional filled; motivations behind a crime, its driving forces, and the continuation of the intense journey between Stone and the return of her nemesis, Dr. Alexandra Thorne.

Prologue: Drake Hall Prison, Present Day. Dr. Alexandra Thorne and her cellmate Cassie. Alex blamed many for her life. She resented the fact no one had seen her value in her experiments. Given more time she would have been able to add a significant finding to the mental health community.

A special fascination with DI Stone. She begins writing to Kimmy.

The manipulative evil sociopath we met in [b:Evil Games|25067570|Evil Games (D.I. Kim Stone, #2)|Angela Marsons|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1434280150s/25067570.jpg|44752433] returns! Kim had survived one battle with the evil Alex, and she was by no means sure she was capable, of doing it again.

Drake Hall provided accommodations for female munitions workers during WWII, then in the 1970s a male prison, and a female prison in the mid-seventies. In March of 2009, it has been designated from semi-open to closed. A pretty, relaxed environment. 345 inmates among the 15 houses.

Alex is controlling even behind bars. She was born without the ability to feel remorse. She could commit any act and feel no guilt. No form of attachment to another living thing. She had selected various patients to partake in her experiments, and they remained blissfully unaware.

Ruth Willis was her first. She had already taken DI Kim Stone to the edge of sanity once, and she was sure she could do it again. This time she knew which buttons to press and how hard. This time she would make no mistakes!

Alex had a way of reeling you in. From her beauty and charm. Ruth had begun to study psychology and manipulation in an effort to learn more about her own weakness and vulnerabilities. She still longed for those days back, even though she knew how evil Alex was.

Kim has to face down her past and at the same time, a web of lies and danger, while putting the pieces of the investigation together. From twists and turns, Kim is front and center.

Thank you, Angela, for continuing this journey with Kim and Alex, showing brilliantly the power of a true sociopath even when confined. Even from prison, Alex manages to affect the lives and control those around her and to filter over to Kim once again.

Also, fans will enjoy the relationship with Kim and her mother (MENTAL) In this jammed packed action suspense thriller. What a relationship! (Chilling and dark secrets). Also fun catching up with our favorite characters.

Cleverly written with a perfect mix of humor, psychological, suspense, and crime thriller--Marsons' continues to keep her fans enthralled with this ongoing exciting series! Looking forward to the next adventurous journey.

In addition to the reading copy, also listened to the audiobook narrated by Jan Cramer.

I’m so excited to be getting back into this series. The whole series is brilliant and I’ve finished book five. Yet again a brilliant, tense, edgy, suspenee filled and page turner of a read. Loved it. I highly recommend you read this series in the correct order as this book links very closely to the previous book.
Kim is back and I bloody love her. One of my favourite characters ever. However, more cases are here and she needs to figure it out. But this time an old convict behind bars is back to torment, test and push Kim. Will she succeed? Or is Kim still hot on her heels and won’t let her win, always one step ahead? We see more of the relationship between Kim and her mother in this story.
Brilliantly written. Enjoyed it all. I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for Kim and her team in book six. A well deserved four stars from me.
