WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME? WHY? I ASK AGAIN, WHY??? THE LAST CHAPTER WAS A PERSONAL INSULT.

4/5⭐️

“He is a man. His emotions are not considered a burden or a weakness. Not like mine, that must keep hidden, so men might feel a little less threatened and a little more strong.”

“She counted out ten seconds. Only ten.”

“The end of the world makes allies of us all.”

“The wolves will come.
One wolf already has. Will you devour me too?”

“He could not pray. His gods were not upon this world to listen.”

This was WORLDS better than first. The first book definitely threw you into the world building and I the only time I was really gripped was the very end, but this one definitely had more character specific development.

Plot is still definitely plotting. The sub plots didn’t feel overwhelming or diverting the main plot too much. It was kind of refreshing bc I feel like I’ve read too many books that have no real goal, and it’s just a bunch of side quests. While those can be fun this felt so nice to have a particular goal the characters are all working towards.

So excited for the 3rd book✨

Still not super keen on this series but the ending of this book picked up a bit. I’m hoping the next book goes as dark as the end of this one suggests. I’m actually almost excited to get the next one.

I was hooked from page to page with this sequel!! I love a story I can’t predict and nothing could have prepared me for the journey the Companions take! I love Sorasa and Dom with their squabbles, Corayne annoying Charlie with her unending curiosity and Andry being the sweetie that he is (can’t forget Sigil and Valtik ofc - the badasses). I also love how we have a POV from Erida and we have an insight into her mind, it’s so interesting to actually know what the villain is intending to do, but have it still be ambiguous to a degree!
