Erida and Taristan need to die already. Seriously, Taristan is so incredibly stupid. He's a puppet and really believes he's a king. I can't wait for him to drop dead. Both villains are so deeply deluded with belief in their own grandure that every time I have to hear from them, I hope this will be the time they die. Erida is a classic rich girl. I wanted to like her at first but she is such a
rich bitch
I can't stand her.

Corayne's story is wild in part because why, literally why, DIDN'T you learn to fight when your mother is the most feared pirate there is? Was there really not one person to teach you to stab things?

All this I am really just saying because I'm mad at how this book ended. I thought something was going to happen at the end and it didn't.
I thought-wished-hoped Taristan was going to die by dragon and we could move on to the other big bad. But no! He's still alive! I just want him to die. His queen can go too. I'm very displeased by who died instead. I can't believe he'll still be alive in the next book. I can believe it but   don't like it.

Voltik is perfect and can do no wrong.

Consider this review a petition for a Taristan POV

Realm Breaker started off slow with all the world building and gathering of the "fellowship" but ended on a high note. I am so glad I had picked up the sequel Blade Breaker in advance because it picked up right at the end of RB.

The narration gives a well rounded view of what is happening on all fronts and with the bulk of world building and explanations taken care of in the first book, it allowed me to really concentrate on the story and enjoy the way the plot unfolded.

Can I just say...I love the villains’ arc! I hate Erida and Taristan (doesn't everyone?) because they're horrible but their slow burn was everything a reader craves for. In contrast, Corayne & Andry? Cute, in a cuddly way, but not so much.

Regardless, there was too much happening in the plot to make sense of any of the romantic vibes that were happening. I was just trying to follow along with the events of the book. I know other reviews complained that the pacing was slow, but that's epic fantasy for you. I did like all the little comparisons to LOTR. You could tell Aveyard is a fan!

I will have to reread the ending. It happened too quickly for me to process it. Blade Breaker is definitely one book that I'm glad I purchased in advance. I will definitely be pre-ordering the last book in the series.

Loving the fantasy world Aveyard has created for this series. This is clearly a bridge book as things are really looking bleak for our MC by the end of this book and I can’t wait to see where the author goes from here.

3.5 ⭐️ rounding to 4. Sorasa and Dom are the main characters and you can't convince me other wise.
I could see myself re reading this series and loving it but right now...it's just ok.
