This book was better paced than Realm Breaker. I liked the politicking of the book. This book was a solid 3/5.

However, there is something I must nitpick.

Why, when you are planning to kill a character, give them little to no screen-time? When I was reading Realm Breaker, I wondered why Ridha wasn't a part of the main group when she was an obvious choice for the 'seven'. I figured back then that it was because Aveyard needed a perspective in the northern continent in the coming books. Then I got to the end of this book and realized why. 

Aveyard needed a sacrifice, but didn't want it to be someone the readers spent too much time with because ??? If you are planning to kill a character, who's death will be impactful to the main characters AND the politics of the world, why do you not spend more time developing them?? Very silly

The pacing in this felt a lot more balanced than the first book or perhaps this time I knew what to expect. It hit many of the expected beats for a second book in the series but still managed to bring urgency and emotion to every step. I can't wait for the next book!

 Band 2 beginnt genau da wo "Realm Breaker" geendet hat und geht erst einmal langsam weiter, nach dem großen Kampf im letzten Buch. Leider hatte ich genau damit erst einmal etwas Startschwierigkeiten, doch nach den ersten Kapiteln war ich wieder ganz dabei und habe sogar zwei Drittel des Buches an einem Tag gelesen.
Insgesamt hat mich die Geschichte von der Art her an "Game of Thrones": viel Politik, Intrigen, Sichtwechsel und eine großartige Welt. Dennoch hat dieses Buch etwas, was G.R.R. Martin nicht bieten konnte: starke weibliche Charaktere und sie kommt ganz ohne Misogynie und unnötige Gewaltszenen aus.
Victoria Aveyard hat eine tolle Fortsetzung geschrieben, die mich wirklich gefesselt hat, ganz für die 5 Sterne hat es für mich gerade durch den Anfang und ein paar Szenen, bei denen ich den Überblick verloren habe, nicht gereicht.
Das Ende ist wirklich fies und ich bin froh, die Reihe erst nach Erscheinen des dritten Bandes zu lesen. Gleichzeitig fürchte ich mich auch etwas vor dem Abschluss.
