16 year old Paris, known as DJ ParSec, is the next big thing to come to the music industry. One day before her show … they find her dead. Through all the twists and turns it was an overall good story. I would have liked a lot more action and turns and twists. I did think the end was rushed a bit… which I didn’t like.

Lamar Giles has done it again! While nothing has, to me, lived up to The Getaway, this comes close! It had enough twists to keep me guessing right up until our protagonists figured out the killer.

Turn it up. Bring the noise.
Can you figure out who killed the hottest DJ on the east coast?
Obsessed fans? ex-best friend? ex-manager? current manager?
The list goes on and on. Who's left standing when the music stops?

Giles is an expert at building suspense and developing believably smart characters. I enjoyed the alternating point of view, although I wish each character's voice were a little more distinct; I often had to flip back a few pages to double-check which character was narrating. Nevertheless, the developing friendships and the emphasis on honesty and loyalty kept me hooked throughout.

Lamar Giles just made a new fan. This book was just what I needed.
Fuse (Fatima) and Kay are at first enemies. They share a mutual friend. A girl named Paris (alias ParSec) who is a popular rising DJ. They both find her dead and, while the scrutiny is on them... They have to put aside their differences to find her killer.
It was suspenseful, relatable and real. I didn't have to suspend belief one time.
This book was super engaging. Lamar Giles writes wonderfully and, had me not wanting it to end.
Kay and Fatima are characters you are going to love.

It was a little boring, I have books that I'd rather read.

Interesting points of view, particularly ParSec's countdown to the day she died.

I really liked this book and believe Giles is a gifted writer. My feelings were just thrown off because I expected the pacing to be a little faster. Reading the description I thought there was going to be more sleuthing and thriller-esque moments. In reality, it was more high school drama. I had to adjust my expectations a little bit.
