I really enjoyed many parts of the book. I do have some difficulty with supernatural events. But it was well written and intense. Good story.

so different from the previous book in the series which is disappointing; felt more like fantasy/sci-fi/supernatural & I wish I knew that going in; didn't hold my interest
(*although technically part of a series, this also acts as a stand-alone*)

This book started out very slow, but once it picked up, it was great! Really enjoyed it.

For about 2/3 of the book, I would have gone with 3 stars. The last 3rd I just listened to because I was stubborn, but it was just not doing anything for me. It had all the things I had said I liked "The Last Child" in spite of, and basically nothing that I liked it for.

This one was definitely not a favorite but I couldn’t get myself to give it 3 stars. I had read the first book and really enjoyed it so I was excited to see the same characters. However it really didn’t matter if a person had read the first one or not. Besides mentioning Johnny’s past nothing pertained to the first one. This one went more magical, supernatural I don’t know. Just got boring in parts that left me feeling what was the point.

Side note: I have never seen a company beg a new employee to come to work like they did Jack.

It’s rare that a sequel is as engaging as the first one, but Hush managed it. I think the key is that the book didn’t rely too heavily on the original story - the characters have grown and evolved, but it is a new plot that goes in a completely new direction.

This was a page-turner for me. It was light enough that I could read quickly; however, the story was compelling.
