Evie doesn’t believe love can last after her parents divorce and she finds out her dad cheated on her mom. She even starts to have visions of how relationships form, evolve, and eventually end. Chance leads her to a dance studio where she meets X, a boy who lives every day like it’s his last and Evie can’t help but let down her guard just enough that he sneaks into her heart.

This delightful take on cynicism surrounding love and learning to enjoy the journey rather than fear the outcome put me through so many emotions- joy, worry, sadness, excitement, frustration, and on and on. It would make a perfect teen rom-com.

This book takes a look at whether it is better to have loved and lost or to have never loved at all.
After Evie’s parents’ marriage crumbles she finds that she no longer believes in love- or that love is worth it because of the hurt you experience if/when it ends.
I found the main character to be rather difficult to deal with. It was like she wanted herself to be miserable (not saying that you can’t be happy without a significant other- she just took it to a whole different level).
I did like the relationship between Evie and X. Probably the most fun part of their relationship was their bantering!
Overall I thought this was good, but not overly memorable.

Awful. Romantised Cheating and ignored pain and hurt to better their own agendas.

this is my first book of 2023 and I absolutely loved it. this tore me to shreds, I seriously sobbed my way through the last half of the book.
the way Nicola was able to make this story so inspiring while also keeping it realistic in terms of the outcomes of different relationships (honestly though, that doesn't make me feel any better knowing what I know will happen in the future) was great. Evie felt so real and hearing her thoughts while she was dealing with her dad's cheating and how it broke their family hurt me so badly, it was where a lot of the crying happened.
I honestly don't think that I am as brave as Evie;
I wouldn't have gone to the wedding, I wouldn't have done the dance competition, and I absolutely wouldn't have been able to bring myself to see X after the vision. Evie was just such an amazing character and the way she navigated all of the issues in this book felt real. I hope she found happiness after X's death. After I finished the last page, I just stared at the wall lmfao. My heart was so broken, and even though technically we had a "happy" ending, I just couldn't help feeling slightly disappointed. Not in the sense that the book should've ended in a different way, because honestly, truly happy endings either don't happen or don't last forever, but I wish I could jump into the book and stop X from leaving. I just can't believe he won't get to grow up with Evie. it's making me emotional just thinking about it.

Overall, this book was truly so good and despite being so sad, it was a great way to start off 2023.

By the end I wanted to cry. That was really special. These past two years have been hard and focusing on the here and now is harder. Especially when the here and now is the worst something has ever been. But this book was a beautiful reminder that that’s all you have. Once it’s past the here and now it’s just a memory.
