wasn’t my cup of tea. i am not saying that the characters weren’t loveable or relatable but the whole story and the drama, which a reality show related plot brings with it, was too much for me. it took me so long cause i just couldn’t get myself to keep going. team daphne

“you don’t love me” “don’t tell me how i feel”

So GOOD. So funny that I actually laughed out loud more than a couple times, so sweet and romantic, and so simply charming. I loved how both of the main characters dealt with mental illness and it never made them less than or undeserving of them. I thought it was a really great of depression and anxiety (i personally have both so can only speak to those) as well as OCD and panic disorder! Loved the casual non-binary representation. I’m still not the biggest fan of the third act breakup in romance books so that would be my only dispute but I’m pretty sure I’ve never read one without that trope. Dev and Charlie were just so sweet together together, they really cared about one another. did make me cry at work 👍

I don’t have the mental capacity to go any further then this right now….after the producer or whatever said all that….im good I don’t need to listen to that right now even if the rest of the book is good

Lots of instances of ableism being called out but at one point
Charlie tells Dev he "could never date someone who wasn't healthy"
which is an incredibly ableist statement especially given
he says it to someone who has a long struggle with depression that arguably may make him 'unhealthy' for the rest of his life even if he starts therapy and gets help
. I was enjoying the book prior to this and assumed that it would be called out later on but it never was and my enjoyment of the book really suffered for it.

love the idea and love the execution! the character’s mental health was something that they explored and i loved how normalised it was.
