nature is healing and hopefully so are my kidneys. at least I can read again.
this was very cute and I loved it and the descriptions of physicality and proximity left something to be desired. a 28 year old would be horrified by so many ripples in his cheeks. ripples = wrinkles. 28 year olds are starting to fear 30.

If this is the last book of 2021 I manage to read, it is a PERFECT book to end on. Heartachy and heartwarming with two disaster cinnamon rolls and a love story I didn’t realize I desperately needed on so many levels. I loved this so damn much I had to go out and buy a copy immediately after I finished the one I borrowed from the library. I’m so, so happy this was recommended to me. SO HAPPY.

Wow, wow, WOW! What an amazing (and hilariously adorable) story with a spectacular representation of sexuality, identity, expression, and mental health. I wish I could give this 100 stars.

So, so good. And the acknowledgements at the end, specifically the first few paragraphs? Good for you, Alison!! I hope your former students did read this because it's one of the most beautiful, authentic, and at the same time fantastical (in a good way) love stories I've had the pleasure to read!! I hope it continues to get even more hype - we all need more stories like this in our world!!!!

PAIN.
This book has so many important messages and some of the realest characters I’ve ever read. Words can’t describe how amazing Charlie is, everything about this book is so well structured for a debit novel and the parallels to society’s expectations are so accurate. I wish I fully understood Dev but I’m glad he figured out what made him happy

The representation of mental health in this story is really great. The romance is also sweet but I just think the world of the TV felt too disconnected with reality to me (ironically) which took away from the story.

This book was extremely (mind the pun) charming!! I have to admit when I first saw how long this book was I was skeptical of whether or not it would keep me interested the whole way through but the writer did a tremendous job of pacing the relationship between Charlie and Dev that got me hooked early on and kept me entertained the entire way through and always made me want to know what was next!

While it was predictable, it was a lovely story. A perfect summer read. :)
