This was one of the stories where I don’t 100% wanted them to get together because their behaviours were strange. I also didn’t like that the ending felt so abrupt
When it came to Morgan I honestly didn’t car toooooo much because I just didn’t understand her history at all, what happened?? It was always just hinted but never fully told. Also how does she not realise that her family/parents are RICH rich. Also her not even batting an eye when she heard that her parents nearly lost their house bc they have no money from suing. Them buying alot of bedroom stuff (mattress?) for Ruby then too? Just confusing and weird

The beginning is great, sort of enemies to lovers, interesting characters, interesting back stories.
But then both main characters started being dislikeable. I know the point probably was to emphasise their flaws but the extent of their behaviour was not relatable to me and not even the end of the book could compensate that.
Spoilers:
Also, a thing I really disliked about Ruby was that she didn't respect boundaries and just tried to kiss and make out with Morgan whenever she felt like it and whenever they had a difficult talk. And her thoughts would be something like "why do I need to tell her I like her if I can show it to her by kissing her?". Excuse me but if somebody is crying because you hurt them you don't try to kiss them in that moment wtf. She also tried to push Morgan to have sex more than once even though Morgan wanted to wait. For her, sex didn't mean much but she didn't even try to understand that that was not the same for Morgan.
I did feel bad for her because of her horrible mother.
Anyways, I really liked the characters and the story in the beginning, but the closer they got, the worse they became. I get that J. Dugan was trying to show their flaws and how they overcame their issues together, but it just made the characters walking red flags in many ways.
Moderate: Toxic relationship, Emotional abuse, and Homophobia

It wasn't a bad book, I actually really liked the premise and the characters and the starts to their plot lines, both together and separate.
However, those plot lines didn't grow in a satisfying way. They were there when the romance plot called for it but that was it. I understand making the romance the dominant storyline, but the other plot lines were interesting and compelling too. I would have loved to see them unfold in a satisfying way.
There was also quite a few instances where we were told about developments instead of seeing them.
Overall a decent book, but there's something about good base stories not living up to their potential that is worse than a bad story.
