ummm this book was CRAZY lol
Mostly, the characters were horrid. Everyone becomes calloused and cynical and takes out their personal frustrations on others, all in the hopes of having others experience a similar pain to what they're feeling.
Part of the problem is that I went into this book thinking it to be a tragic love story. Instead, it was a long narration on the flaws on society and humanity.
An interesting read, if falsely advertised, and rather unique in the corpus of nineteenth-century literature, at least in my own experience

I found the start a lot more interesting but towards the end I slowly lost interest in the story. I like how it tells the story from the house keepers perspective to provide a different view of the situations at hand.

The power and raw emotion in the dialogue of this novel are what make it brilliant; you don’t care for the characters, but their passion is enough to make you sob.
Indeed, I found very, very few characters in this novel had any redeemable qualities at all, and though I was expecting to find disagreeable characters, I was mildly shocked at how downright and unashamedly deplorable they are. Still, you can’t help but be intensely interested in their personal affairs. I can’t understand it really, but it speaks to how wonderful Brontë is as a storyteller that you can despise the entirety of the cast of characters but still want to know where they end up.
I thought the storytelling was one of the triumphs of this novel. There were chapters where not a great deal happened, but sometimes the way she describes certain events or emotions add magic enough to it that you don’t feel as though you’ve wasted your time. She describes things - especially facial expressions - in ways that add new life to the characters, which is so lovely.
However, what really shines in this novel is the passion of the characters, as I’ve said before, and primarily Catherine (Earnshaw) and Heathcliff. I despised the pair of them, but I wanted so badly for them to get their happy ending. I can’t help but wonder what might have happened if they’d gotten it.

Look. Wuthering Heights is a good book. Did I like it?... No? I really did not enjoy reading it. Everyone is awful. There is so much abuse. But it is also a very interesting book. You can analyze it to no end, which I do appreciate. Will I be doing it? Not sure.
But in short, I think it is a very interesting and thoughtful novel about nature vs nurture, abuse that spans generations and what revenge really gets you. Won't be reading it again though. Might watch the movie.

Sorry to say, but I don't like this one bit.
I found every character to be utterly unlikable. The narrative failed to engage me for the majority of its duration. Furthermore, I felt completely detached from what I interpreted as mere gossip.
