Read this for one of my book groups, and it had been recommended to me by my co-worker long before now. Always a valuable experience to read about someone whose life has been so radically different from yours. Puts so much into perspective. Although this book is few years old (2010), its relevance is stronger than ever due to the current world situation.

I love her writing, her insight and point of view. I must keep an eye out for any public appearance she might have in my area.

I haven't read infidel and I didn't realize that it was written before this one, but oh well.
Nomad is Ayaan's journey from Somalia to the U.S. It's also her family's stories - from her grandmother, to her father, to her brother, sister, and cousins. It's a glimpse into the life of a Nomad and an Islamist. She gives us a view into what it means to be a Muslim. She also covers charged issues such as immigration and steps we can take as a nation to ingratiate refugees and avoid them radicalizing.
This is one point of view on the subject, but it is also a compelling one. Ayaan brings to light issues that are not discussed. Islam itself is almost completely ignored for fear of retaliation by radicalists. Ayaan's herself has 24/7 bodyguards because she is a active proponent against Islam and what it does to it's followers, especially women.
I don't know if she has all the answers, but I highly recommend this book to get a different perspective on a complex problem. It is well-written, filled with stories that will warm your heart and others that will shock you, and is highly likely to move you in one way or another.

I'd say this is one of the most important books to understand and help us face our times. Everyone should read it.
