The focus here is not so much the crime but how it was set in motion and how everyone reacts to it. That's not normally my wheelhouse but this story hit the right notes for me.

There was a good balance of strengths and flaws in the examined relationships. That was what kept me reading.

Thicker Than Water by Megan Collins
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Julia and Sienna Larkin are business partners, friends and sister in laws. Completely inseparable. But when Jason Larkin is in a car accident and put in a medically induced coma just days after his boss is killed, suspicions arise and Sienna and Julia are at odds over their beliefs of what occurred. With Jason out, no one can tell the whole story and what happened is tearing the friends apart.
The twists just kept coming!  Loved the back and forth chapters between Julia and Sienna, each with their different views of the crimes and Jason. The murder, the accident and Jason in a come, bring out the true characters of wife and sister, possibly destroying family and friendships.

Thank you to NetGalley, Atria Books and the author for an eARC of Thicker Than Water by Megan Collins for an honest review. I also won a Goodreads giveaway for an ARC.

Thicker Than Water is definitely a slow burn. It took me awhile to get into this book. It has dual POV alternating between Julia and Sienna. The two are sister in laws and Julia's husband is a suspect in his bosses murder.

This is a slower paced book, there is good character growth between the two main characters. There is a lot of lying and not telling the full truth which adds to the plot and what actually happened. While I did guess what actually happened the ending was well done and tied everything up.

Y’all! This was good! I might have liked it more than The Family Plot. This book started with a bang and didn’t really let up until the end I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book. My opinions are my own.

This synopsis of this book really pulled me in. Read this if you love family drama, twists, suspenseful mystery. Julia and Sienna are best friends but also sister in laws. Julia is married to Jason. Sienna is Jason’s sister. There is a very close bond between these three characters. Jason is in a car wreck and in a coma. The girls are dealing with this situation and find out the police have found evidence in Jason’s car that tie him to the death of his boss. There’s secrets that Julia and Sienna have kept from one another for years. Julia is also noticing their teenage son is acting strange and he appears to have his own secrets he’s hiding from Julia. The way the story was told kept you engaged and wondering who had committed the murder, what other secrets was everyone keeping from one another, will Jason survive. It was such a quick engaging read for me. Many thanks to Atria Books and NetGalley for the digital review copy of this novel. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I enjoyed this book. I do have a few qualms that kept me from loving it. One of the main characters i found so frustrating and it just irritated me. I can appreciate her undying devotion to her brother but it also came at the expense to those around her and she was far too hot headed and stubborn. I really wanted to ring her neck multiple times.

I also grew frustrated with the miscommunication. But i was glad that it came out finally (the secrets they kept) sooner rather than later to propel the story further.

I did love the bond that the two women had tho. Their closeness and their love showed. There’s definitely a lot to unpack with these characters. And I’m glad they both developed and grew by the end. It did take away a bit from the mystery of the story tho.

In the end, i was surprised by the development. I did enjoy it but i would have liked the one character to be toned down a notch & maybe more focus on the mystery than the friendship.
