Porter ranks highly amongst my favourite authors, which makes this relatively low rating even more painful. Style-wise, the writing is as impeccable and boundary pushing as ever, but Shy as a character was so difficult to find relatable or understandable that it was hard to feel invested, especially when the direction the plot was going felt largely predictable.

Opnieuw bevestigd Porter zich als mijn favoriete schrijver!! aaaaa zelden spreken boeken mij ZO persoonlijk aan als de zijne.. wenen bij het lezen van een boek is echt 1 van de mooiste ervaringen oooooit en goh ik heb zoveel gehuild met dit boek!!!

I didn’t really enjoy this that much pff 
I couldn’t read and understand what I was reading cause of the way it’s written. Tbh I don’t even know what I read which I think says a lot. It’s unfortunate cause I thought I was gonna enjoy this.
