The romance was a little rushed and it wasn’t as much of a page turner as her other books. But whew that twist sure was something you can only get away with in fiction, it’s so absurd to imagine it happening in real life that it makes it extra fun in fiction

This was way more enjoyable to me than the other books I’ve read by this author (I read one of us is lying but dnf the sequel). Felt more family mystery than thriller/murder mystery. I loved the setting and the twists along the way. It did get a little confusing on audio at times between the three female narrators, but I was able to pick up the ebook for the last 75% which definitely helped. I also appreciated that this was fairly clean for a YA book.

This reminded me of inheritance games and truly devious a little, so if you have enjoyed those you might like this one.

soooo now I've read every single book written by Karen M. McManus, and unfortunately in this case the last one was also the least. She's always been one of my favourite (YA) mystery authors, and even though this one was an okay read, it didn't live up to the standards her other works have set up. This one was just boring and hard to get into, too many names and too little action.

This book was amazing! I was tense most of the second half of the book lol. The build up and foreshadowing were fantastic as more and more pieces of the mystery were uncovered. The flashbacks really added to the atmosphere and building intensity. I still like One of Us is Lying a little bit more, but this book could easily beat it out with a reread or two.

This YA mystery thriller throws the reader around so many twists and turns, that when a surprise twisted ending happens, you feel like you've survived the most thrilling rollercoaster ride ever.
