I needed a lovely little delve back into the halfblood world. And overall I enjoyed this. The story is a collection of short stories told from different point of voice and about different characters.

Part 1 is Luke's diary. This was easily my favorite story. Luke always has been and will likely always be one of my favorite characters. This story takes place with him and Thalia out on the run just before meeting up with Annabeth. I loved actually see Luke struggling with who he is and even with his ominous future. I would give this part 5 stars.

Part 2 is a story between Percy and Annabeth as they go on the search for Hermes' caduceus. This was just a fun story because I love to see Percy and Annabeth together.

Part 3 is a story about Leo, Piper, and Jason dealing with Bunker 9. Out of the three, this was the one holding the others back, it was just there. I love Leo, but somehow Piper and Leo make him less fun. Blah, this story could be done without.

Part 4 is a story written by RR's son about a son of Hecate named Alabaster who fought on Kronos' side in the Battle for Olympus. This story was just magical. And if I didn't know better, I would think it was written by RR as well. It brings a new perspective to how humans relate to the mythological world. I would totally read more of this story!!

Not well done at all, especially the story by Rick's son.

The Diary of Luke Castellan
“A sacrifice in your future. A choice. But also a betrayal.”
angst.

"I don't want to be responsible for burning down the mortal world."
Well, i hate to break it to you but...

Percy Jackson and the Staff of Hermes
Annabeth developed a crush on Luke. As Annabeth got older, Luke developed feelings for her, too. Luke turned evil.
I was feeling a little sympathetic for Luke when i was reading the Diary of Luke Castellan but Rick made sure to immediately crush that sympathy as soon as it started. I'd gaslighted myself into believing that Luke meant the whole "do you love me?" thing in a brotherly/platonic way but i cannot deny it anymore.

"Actually, Cacus, I have another secret weapon."
[...]
"Her name is Annabeth," I said. "And she's one of a kind."

brb crying they're so cute. This is like catching up on what i missed out on. I need to read more about their time in between The Last Olympian and The Lost Hero.

She was beautiful in combat.
brb crying even more.

"I want to explore Paris with a beautiful girl."
Dead
is this the date they were talking about in like Mark of Athena??

Leo Valdez and the Quest for Buford
"Yes!" Leo yelped. "Absolutely. I am Dionysus."
Jason pls come back

Son of Magic
"I am Lamia, butcher of the tainted!"
If i am being completely and brutally honest i expected Haley's writing to be a carbon copy, unoriginal version of Ricks writing. What i got instead was a masterpiece worthy of ricks praise. haley wrote this like rent was due!! Absolutely amazing.

I expected a bit of unseriousness(well, since he's ricks son) and was a bit shocked to see the writing follow a more stricter and serious tone and i think that it actually amazing cause he's going against assumptions and most of all BEING ORIGINAL!!

The Lamia lore was crazy, and so creative. Like, that's how the monsters can smell demigods??? WOWW! This was truly amazing

I don’t know why I called this book “cute”, it isn’t, really. The games and riddles are few and far between. They’re good, but overly simplistic.

I don’t enjoy the “pictures” of the demigods. The fanart is much better.

As for the 4 stories:

Story 1: Very good.
Story 2: A bit ridiculous and over the top.
Story 3: It’s nice to hear from Leo but Jason and Piper are reduced to having no personality again.
Story 4: This one does not sit right with me. It’s almost entirely told from the POV of a mortal adult, not a demigod. The difference was jarring and the set up was inexplicable.

All in all, I’m feeling a bit disappointed.

Thanks to the Demigod diaries. I learned more about Luke, Thalia and Annabeth. And then there's Hal. I guess most of you might know what I'm talking about. I learned how Luke and Thalia met Annabeth. This book has many great stories
