Out of everything in this book, the only thing I really struggled with was the author using the name Butch for an MMC name. No offense to the Butch’s of the world, but to me, the visuals associated with that name are NOT congruent to a 22 year old himbo superhero. The name just made no sense. I was also annoyed by how it was mentioned that all superheroes (I’m guessing just males, but I’m not getting in to that whole ass thing) have to be circumcised, which makes no sense and was never explained, in this book at least. It’s just kind of a ridiculous distinction between them, and I don’t get what the point was, but I def noticed and highlighted that as soon as I saw it. Other than that, I enjoyed the books and Xander and B’s relationship, as well as the world building.

I had a lot more fun with this when they were trying to hide identities from each other than when it moved into fated mates territory.
I appreciated that they didn’t play coy with each other- they liked it each more than they expected, so they talked and acted accordingly.

2.5 stars. This was fine. Not great but not bad either. I found the daddy kink to be off-putting here (it's not my thing but it usually doesn't bother me) and the end rushed and a bit confusing (his dad kills his mom's soulmate and then she marries him? What?!). I read this because I'm actually more interesting in Book 2 and I like to read series in order.

Not All Himbos Wear Capes lived up to the promise of its title: a fun romp with superheroes that's a bit tongue-in-cheek but also full of heart. Xander and Butch basically U-Hauled with each other, but they were too cute and nervous and all heart eyes at each other, so I didn't mind.
I immensely enjoyed how Rochelle played the reveals of their superhero identities to each other. Butch's emotional arc and his realization about how the whole artificially manufactured superhero industrial complex worked so well. The guys came together as a team and true partners emotionally and with a plan for their lives.
While I don't think this is a good enemies-to-lovers book, I wasn't bothered by that, as most books touting this trope don't live up to it, and it's not one I'm invested in.
I'm very excited for Book 2 as Wolfy was my favorite character.
-1 star for a Harry Potter reference in a book published in 2019 or later.
