This was a slow starting book that took me a while to get into, but as soon as Austerlitz arrived at Vera’s doorstep, I found myself unexpectedly emotional and finished the remaining two thirds of the novel in a flurry of reading with as few breaks as there were paragraph breaks. The form made this feel incredibly intimate to me, and seemed to comment on the inescapable and heartbreaking fluidity of memory, time, and storytelling.
