this book balance the romanticisms of the victorian era and also shows the dark sides of it
This is a pretty good book. I definitely enjoyed it.
If I had to list my complaints, they are the following two things:
1 - not clear how the other worldly creatures love differently than humans.
2 - the main character's motivations are kept a mystery until very late in the book. That kind of makes it hard to get connected with the character.

Having read the entirety of Olivia Atwater's Regency Faerie Tales series, I thought I knew what I was in for with The Witchwood Knot. I was very wrong and it was even better than I expected. From page one there is a sense of foreboding as the main character, Winifred, arrives at Witchwood Manor. The house is the best kind of Gothic manor, complete with walls that wail at night and several dangers. From cunning faeries to the predator that is the lord of the house, Winifred has her work cut out for her in order to fulfill her promise to protect her young charge at all costs. Winifred, herself, makes for an excellent main character. She is a no-nonsense type of person and has an edge of gray morality that makes her ruthless. Between the characters and the atmosphere, I can't recommend The Witchwood Knot enough. I also recommend the audiobook edition, as the performance is excellent. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Never thought Jack Skellington was my type but here we are. 4.5⭐️ because I found the plot a little hard to follow but all became clear in the end. I continue to fall in love with Olivia Atwater more with every book!
