This was a short story about Magnus having an adventure before the start of the Falling Kingdom series. And I loved it. Morgan Rhodes managed to weave her characters from A Book of Spirits and Thieves into this story and have Magnus meet them and it was great. I loved the whole tie that it had into both series that was mentioned. The ending was sad because ultimately it had to be to tie in with the two series but it was a great short read and built on Magnus's character beautifully. Also it's always fun to see Magnus in his own snarky remarking way.

"Life was a series of choices—conscious choices—that defined one’s life.

Even by not making a choice, one was still choosing."

Really loved this one!!! We had so much of my beautiful baby! And the predictions for his future...❤❤❤ I can't wait for more of these, bit to speak of the last book.

I absolutely loved this. Simply brilliant .

Though I was hoping for at least Maddox to keep his memories. Still I loved that Maddox was Magnus's first friend (even tho he won't remember).

I also very much enjoyed the little flashback Magnus had of Cleo ( nice to know that they kept their personalities even when they were children).

I love both of these characters separately , and together this novel made laugh like a little girl.

AND can we talk about how much we hate Livius and Gaius ( there's a special place in hell reserved for the both of them).

And when Samara read each of their fortunes I immediately lost it.

"Look at my boys learning about their future wives"

"My money," Magnus retorted. "After all, I stole it."

Yeah, I’d pretty much read anything that has Magnus as a main character. And this was the perfect timing as I’ve been waiting for [b:Crystal Storm|23367261|Crystal Storm (Falling Kingdoms, #5)|Morgan Rhodes|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1458655374s/23367261.jpg|42926537] for way too long and I desperately needed some Falling Kingdom magic!

So, what to say about this novella?
Magnus was fantastic (but nothing new about that); the story was captivating (but nothing new about that either); and I liked how the characters from Morgan Rhodes’ two series get together and got all tangled up.

Easy, and even funny, read.

"Then Magnus frowned. ‘Did you just call me your friend?’
‘Did I?’ ‘You did. I heard you’ ‘My mistake.’ ‘I would say so.’"

Magnus and Maddox together? Yes! Loved this short novella! I especially loved the small snippet of Cleo. Full review on my blog https://literarydust.wordpress.com/2017/01/07/review-obsidian-blade/

This wonderful little story had me smiling like an idiot the whole time. Every mention of the "Golden Princess" had me giggling like a deranged lunatic (especially the flashback to Magnus's childhood). Who would have thought that Maddox and Magnus would have such a fantastic friendship? This lovely story gave me all the feels. 10/10 would recommend.
