While slightly better than the first two books in the series, the pacing of this just threw me. While I did really enjoy the plot, I feel like I spent large portions of this book not all that invested in what was to happen.
I still feel like, while the characters are interesting, they and their relationships could have been far better developed!

It takes about 100-120 pages to get the excitement. Just keep reading! This was a great third installment and I CANNOT wait until the fall when the last book comes out. I’m not sure I’ll make it through the book!

Up until the "end," this was a solid, five-star book for me, by far my favorite in the series. When I first heard Three Dark Crowns was extending into a trilogy, after a Queen had been crowned, I thought, oh boy, here comes a cash grab. But Kendare Blake was absolutely able to craft a unique and exciting tale with intrigue, mystery, and beaches littered with entrails. This did not feel like a forced extension AT ALL.

But let's talk about things in YA I hate, in order of hate-it-tude:
1. Girls who fall in love with stalker/captor/abuser
2. Zombies and/or graphic human flesh consumption
3. Predictable and unnecessary love triangles
4. CLIFFHANGERS
5. Overuse of made-up swear words (It was cool when Illuminae did it. Now it's not cool anymore)
This book literally ends with, "To be continued..." Or as I like to say, "In a year, if you want to read the rest of this tale, you must pay me $18.99 plus tax."
Nothing, and I mean absolutely NOTHING was resolved in this, and I'm really fine with stories that conclude most things but leave a few strings for a sequel. If it's a great world and an amazing story, like this one, that's what I want, to know there's potential for more. But when it ends so openly, I just feel like I've been duped into reading a prequel against my will.
Of course I'm going to read the next one. Like the proverbial fish, I've been hooked. But I'm not going to be super happy about it. I also feel for those who can't afford the hardcovers the day they come out so they'll have to wait even longer to get a library copy. When I settle in to read a book, I want an entire book. Intro - Climax -Resolution. Please stop cheating us!

Another great instalment to the series, very fast paced and kept my attention through out. Looking forward to seeing how the story concludes!
This series keeps punching me in the face. And evoking all of the emotions. I don’t know if I’m ready for the end. Also, who would have thought I would have ended up liking this so much!
