I’m just a sucker for cinderella story, though I think Allie might be as much of the Cinderella in this story as Mabel is.

Mabel an aspiring author has been ghost writing biographies to get experience under her belt. Which makes her, in her editors opinion qualified to write for the notorious bad boy of football, Alfie. Alfie a gruff retired footballer is ready to tell his side of the story, but after a disastrous first meeting it’s unclear if they can ever get on the same page.

After accidentally being photographed together they decide instead of admitting he’s hired a ghost writer to fake date. The only logical conclusion if we are honest. The problem is, Mabel is a little on the curvier side and not in the same tax bracket as Alfie. So while social media is having a meltdown around them, they are trying to navigate their increasing attraction.

True life isn’t a romance novel as Mabel and Alfie unfortunately find out.

Alfie was such a book boyfriend! He tries so hard to be a lovable brooding bean. I don’t know how I felt about Mabel. She was bubbly and she gave dopamine decor vibes. However, she just didn’t appeal to me.
this man is literally telling you talk to me and I’ll listen. But then you just refuse to say anything about the turmoil your feeling on the inside. 🙄

I LOVE the trope of a grumpy/sunshine romance. I think it’s precious and not just because I’m grumpy and waiting for my sunshine lol
This book made me laugh out loud, the banter!! THE BANTER?? Incredible. The witty quips?? Fantastic. I don’t care that people are rating this book so low. As if having extremely low self esteem wouldn’t have caused this incredibly massive miscommunication. Get some perceptive people, this book felt relatable in ways that hurt sometimes. But it was so so lovely.
Super cute, thank you!!!!

I have mixed feelings on this book. At some points it was very cute and sweet and the perfect amount of steamy but at other points I was just so confused and unhappy. My main issue is with the pacing and sharp jumps between events. I felt as though some scenes needed more follow up or explanation of the characters feelings and intentions while others had way too much detail.
This also may be just my dislike of miscommunication tropes but it infuriated me how little the two characters talked about how they actually felt. I know why they didn’t, but I just feel like if even one of them had opened up a little, the love story would’ve been more convincing.

This is the perfect fluffy sweet romance. Delectably sweet, heartwarming, and soft. You fall in love with the characters from page one and love them desperately all the way to the end.
