Fall down the rabbit hole and lose yourself in Wonderland! It's nothing like what you remember from all your childhood stories. Things are darker, scarier and it's inhabitants are all in a state of despair and fear. This book captured me and kept me entranced. I didn't want to put it down, but when I had to it still stayed on my mind. The author has take these characters that we already love and makes you love them even more. You just want to hug them and put them in a protective bubble. Clara is fierce. I love the toughness she exudes even while she's terrified on the inside. Yes, you will love the Hatter, but you'll also meet White and Cheshire and will be curiouser and curiouser. I definitely was not expecting to ugly cry, but this book gutted me. At one point, my husband asked if I was ok and gave me a hug. Bottom line- I LOVED it!! Perfect blend of fantasy, magic, steam, engaging story set in one of the dreamiest lands ever- Wonderland!!

So I went into this blind. I should have known by the cover alone it was a spicy book.

The plot: Clara is prophesied to come to wonderland and overthrow the Red Queen. The Red Queen is Allison, who was thrown into an asylum after she left wonderland. Allison returns to wonderland for revenge and starts killing. To overthrow the Red Queen, Clara must be with the son of wonderland, Hatter, and defeat the knave.

This book is imaginative and the author did a great job creating wonderland. I am a horror fan so the gore appealed to me. However, the characters lacked depth. I couldn’t tell you anything about Clara, except that she’s an attorney. I don’t know what makes the Hatter mad, he didn’t do anything crazy. I don’t normally read smut, so I don’t know if character development is important.

The book went heavy on the spice 19 chapters in and the plot was lost. There could have been a really good story here.

If you like slow burn and spice, I recommend this book.

This just isn’t my normal cup of tea *pun intended*

Another interesting one... I do like Alice in Wonderland retellings - especially if they dive into a darker wonderland. That's what roped me in initially. I did like the characters, though at the same time I really struggled to connect to them. But I still like the main pairing.
I liked that Clara and the Hatter spent time together before they actually get some action on. They also fit quite well together, especially since the Hatter didn't seem as mad as he was supposed to be...
I also came to care for Cheshire and really want to read his book, so I guess I will continue with the series.

I love fairy tale retellings and dark themed books. Now, if I can have it together? That’s fantastic and this book certainly nailed it. Since this is my first read from the author and my first foray to an Alice in Wonderland retelling, I absolutely loved it. The author’s style of writing is impeccable. She draws me in with her smooth flow of story; great world building and I certainly didn’t expect the horror theme of this one. Needless to say, I’ve enjoyed reading it and will definitely continue with the series.

My mind,” he taps the side of his head, “is where I suffer. Inside my thoughts, there’s chaos, insanity, fear. I cannot fight it. I cannot push it away. But inside all that chaos, there’s you, shining bright, my own star to light the way and show me the path home. Never be sorry for who you are,” he says, more serious than I have ever seen him. “Because who you are is everything to me.”

Wonderful!

I love everything about Alice in Wonderland and love retellings, and this one is now my new favorite one. The Mad Hatter is my favorite always has been since I was a kid and this being a story that he has such a huge part in was even better.

This is not your typical Alice in Wonderland, this is more on the horror side in Wonderland, and its up to the MC Clara Bee to save them all.

The Romance the grows between Clara and Hatter is just beautiful, spicy, and just heartwarming. The Hatter sure does have his way in making you fall in love with him quickly with just the things he say.

I can't wait for the next book
