This is my first book by Maggie Rawdon, and I have to say, I enjoyed EVERY SECOND.
This was like the perfect sports romance. Not only was every character likable (except Drew, he was the WORST), but the romance was to die for!! I have to admit, I don’t read many (or any, actually) books where it’s a ex-husband’s best friend type of deal, but i ate this up!!! Alexander was just the PERFECT book boyfriend, like, omg.
I loved this especially because you could tell Alexander really cared for her. It was such a beautiful story, and I’m honestly really sad that I finished it.
I’ll definitely be picking up Maggie Rawdon books from now on. She’s quickly skyrocketed to one of my fav auto buy authors!!

“Such a gentleman.” She shoots me a wry grin. “While I’m in public anyway.”
“You think she would have chosen you if she’d known I was an option?”
“What about dessert though?” “That’s not a question you ask a man undergoing forced celibacy, Saint.”
“Then strip.”“Why?”“Because I’m going to eat at this fucking table.”
“You’re right. You deserve fucking better, but you’re stuck with me now.”
“Mine,” she grins and then kisses me. “Good. Fucking. Girl.”
Because as far as I’m concerned, she’s mine now and I’d been hers for a long fucking time.
“You’re my reward, Saint,”

Maggie Rawdon's "Pick Six" delivers a winning touchdown (get it?) with a delightful blend of romance, banter, and spice. This was my first glimpse into Rawdon's works, and I was thoroughly captivated by her storytelling prowess.
One of the highlights of the book is the banter between the protagonists, Alex and Harper—affectionately known as Saint. The consistency with which he uses this cute nickname creates a charming dynamic that had me smiling and kicking my feet throughout. In fact, it became so ingrained that I found myself forgetting Harper's actual name for a significant portion of the book.
The camaraderie within Harper's friend group adds another layer of enjoyment to the story. Reading potential relationships kindle and the resilience of old connections from previous stories showcased Rawdon's ability to craft a narrative that extends beyond the central romance. It felt like stepping into a world where friendships are as crucial as the romantic entanglements.
So I'll be honest... Initially, I wondered if the story might veer into the territory of being too cookie-cutter. Alex was totally obsessed with Harper, saw her first, it was just too much fate for me but my reservations were dispelled (I'd say after the 30% mark). Rawdon wove a narrative that became increasingly immersive, drawing me into the lives of the characters and the pulse of the team which I was very thankful for.
The chemistry between Alex and Harper is not only palpable but also laced with a fair amount of spice. Alex's dirty talk is top-tier and adds a layer of intensity to their romance that keeps the pages turning. It's also amazing to witness Harper's growth as she becomes more comfortable expressing her desires with Alex. Not every character is a winner, and Drew's consistent presence brings a necessary layer of tension to the story. Without giving away spoilers, it's safe to say that Drew is not a character one would ever root for and I was happy with all decisions that were made where he was concerned.
The nod to continuing the series with Colton's story piqued my interest, and I am definitely going to go back to explore the tales of the already-formed couples. Rawdon's ability to make readers fall for all of the characters and the team is a testament to her skill in creating a world that readers want to revisit.
Overall, "Pick Six" is a fun sexy read for those seeking a heartwarming yet spicy romance. Maggie Rawdon has not only made me a fan of Alex and Harper but has also sparked my interest in exploring the series further and going deep into her backlog. Very excited to find a new "auto buy" author!

This book was a bit underwhelming. I found the writing to be choppy and very repetitive, especially near the beginning. it felt like we had the same conversations with the exact same dialogue multiple times. I never really felt much of a connection between our 2 main characters, which made the steam a little lackluster for me. I did like that they we're always open and honest with each other from when they started their arrangement and thru to the end of the book. miscommunication between the main characters was not an issue here, and I appreciated that. The overall ending was a bit anti-climactic and not as exciting as it could have been. I had high hopes going in and was just a bit let down.
What an amazing start of a new football romance series!! Yesss!! So freakin good!
I love Brother's best friend and best friend's romance but when I saw that this was a "Ex-husband's best friend" I just knew I had to read it! I knew the spice and tension was going to be out of this world and oh my goodness...yes it was!
Harper and Alex knew each other before she married his best friend but instead of seeing where they could have gone, she married his best friend and what could have been was put on hold until her divorce was finalized.
Alex and Harper. These two were made for each other. I loved how they reconnected. Their attraction and chemistry was out of this world! I loved the slow burn and felt the story was paced well as it built up the tension and gave us time to see how everything unfolded. I was all here for it!
And I can't forget about their friends! They definitely have founded a family and it's amazing!
I loved how Alex was with Harper. He was possessive, sweet, and attentive when it came to his "Saint".
I definitely recommend!
I can't wait for the next book!

Not putting a rating because this was a low rated read for me but I feel like the reasons for that are really up to my tastes. Want to leave the reasons why here in case they sway someone one way or another.
-Drew (ex husband) and Alex are not really best friends. I don't know that I would even classify them as friends; more like people who maybe used to be friends and now are acquaintances masquerading as friends because they had history?
-I don't have any problem with profanity but it felt like fuck/fucking was in here... too much.
-Harper came across as a little too much 'normal and not like other girls' for me to enjoy.
-The level of antagonism between Harper and Alex pre this story just came off as really forced
-If you are in a fake relationship for the sake of your image DO NOT TALK ABOUT HOW YOU ARE FAKING IT IN PUBLIC ALL. THE. TIME. How did these two not get caught/outed?

This was an enjoyable read, but at times I felt it was lacking that special something that would take it to the next level.
I thought that Harper & Xander were a cute couple with great chemistry. The spice was spicing - especially that hot tub scene! I was also a huge fan of the way that they communicated with each other. They acted like the grown ups they were, and when the third act drama happened, neither of them hid anything to protect the other.
However, I found Harper to be irritating, especially in the first half of the book. Despite repeatedly being told by Xander that he wants to try a relationship with her, Harper’s almost constant refrains on how she’s wrong for his image became very trying. It just put me off & impacted my enjoyment of the story.
