SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)
Nicholette is a call girl...among her other bloody side hobbies. So when her boss puts her on a job working with a group of mercenaries, she's ready to get to work. But she's surprised that she already knows two of them -- one of them is a regular client of hers (Vas), and another is her roommate (Oli).
As they work together on their mission, they all grow closer and start a relationship. But Nicholette's life is complicated, what with her job, bloody hobby killing naughty johns, and the stalker that's getting more dangerous.

REVIEW:
This was alright. I started out liking it but there are enough things about it that made me not want to continue on with the series (which I'll share below).
Let's first talk about Nicholette.
I liked some things about her and other things I didn't. I liked her confidence and survival mentality. She has a strong inner spirit and I liked that about her.
On the other hand, I found her personality to be more dominant and bitchy than I prefer an FMC to be. We have a few femme domme type of scenes that just aren't my thing and I wasn't a fan of that.
I also really disliked that she continued to work (as a prostitute) after her relationship with the guys started. I've read several series' that have sex workers as the main character, and while it's not my favorite trope, the author usually manages to work a reason into the story to pause their work long enough that the character doesn't go back to it in the end. I did not like that the author didn't write this kind of safeguard into the story. I hated this. And this in and of itself is mostly a deal breaker for me. I love why choose romance, but within the confines of a closed relationship. I'm not a fan of reading open poly relationships outside the main group. And continuing to have sex with other men (even as a job) is not okay with me.
Now let's talk about the guys.
I liked Vas the most by far. I really would've loved more CNC primal scenes with him. I did not like how he slapped Nic outside a scene. But other than that I liked him.
Sacha had a very difficult personality to nail down. He's dominant....but has moments where he seems like something else. I just don't feel like his personality was very well fleshed out and nailed down. He was inconsistent.
Oli is sort of a conundrum. He's nice and fun...but also murderous? I couldn't connect the two. I've seen quirky psycho type of guys (and I like that), but he's not even like that. He's not a psycho. Just like a nice funny guy that also loves killing. I don't know. Like Sacha, he's an inconsistent character that isn't very well nailed down.
Bodhi is my least favorite and makes the least sense. Why is he apart of this mercenary group if he's so...jumpy and scared all the time. He's very fragile and I didn't really like his wilting flower personality. It's unattractive to me and just doesn't fit with the job he does. He also seems very hesitant about Nic. I don't even think he likes women that much. So I don't understand him for the harem.
The steam between them was definitely hot at times. But also confusing. Vas doesn't share with anyone but Sacha (and only sometimes), and Oli and Bodhi are in a relationship and sort of separate from Vas and Sacha. It seems unlikely to me that they've shared a woman in the past even though they claim they have. They all get along fine, but don't really seem as gung-ho about sharing as you'd think considering their past.
I also find it extremely unrealistic that Nic would be Oli's roommate for a YEAR and never meet any of the other guys -- especially his boyfriend Bodhi! It makes no sense.
Around the 80% mark I just knew that this would not be a series I would continue. So I looked into some reviews for the other books in the series, and that confirmed for me that I will be abandoning this series. Because I found out that she continues with her call girl job and also the harem continues to grow (which I really hate).
So yeah, overall it had a good start, but plenty of deal breakers for me to not continue the series.

Let me first say this I have read a ton of dark romance, so this book I understood pretty quickly would not be for everyone. Please, this is not a beginner dark romance, so read trigger warnings if you choose to read. Nic is a high end call girl that fell in love with a madame aho didnt feel the same and now has to pay a debt to her by helping the hired mercenaries to get secrets from.her husband to k*ll him. Little did she know she had already met a few of the mercenary teams. One js a client, and the other is her roommate. There are a lot of taboo dark kinks in this book. Nic has had a traumatic life, and that has let her be a call girl for people with darker tastes. I think for me the amount of sa I knew was going to be a lot. The force of these men and how they treat her sometimes took me off guard. While she helps them, they find out she also has a stalker. I really liked nic a lot, and each guy had his own place in her life and how she feels. It is the first book, but I was never truly pulled in. It was more about her relationships and smex. It started getting more plot at the end.
So utterly obsessed!
This is my first from the author and it'll be far from my last! This book is dark and hits every limit you can imagine, but it's all ok because Nic is ok with it. And I LOVED THAT! The story is fascinating, I can't wait to see this dark world that is opening up to the guys by doing this job. And the guys are perfect! They each have their own distinct personalities and hard edges. The author uses real skill in taking those hard edges and having them add to the depth of the story. I truly can't wait to see their relationship deepen

"I was the Queen of Hearts, their hearts, and I wouldn’t have it any other way."
“You’d tear the world apart for me.” “I’d burn it and proudly stand among the ashes—just for you.”
" The broken really were attracted to each other, weren’t we? We needed people who understood us and others who wouldn’t be afraid to break themselves just a bit more to be with us."
Why did it take me so long to dive into this world? Because man was it a world that I got lost in and not even upset about it. So much happened in this series and every time I thought we knew all of Nic's secrets more and more would come to light. There are so many layers to Nic and she is unapologetically badass. She doesn’t take anyone's shit and the banter with each of her men or any person she has gotten close to over the years of life as a prostitute turned call girl. She may be a call girl and Nic may have lived through some shit but she always comes out on top because she fights tooth and nail for what she knows she deserves. Because of her character, I couldn’t get enough of this series. As well as this series has made it to my top favorite RH. The men she chooses to have at her side all know exactly why she has chosen them. I felt so many emotions for each of the characters. I laughed a lot but also my heart broke for them and sometimes I just got so lost in the drama.
You will not be disappointed with this chosen family, the spicy between these characters is perfection. Nic is not ashamed to admit how high her sex drive is and it only makes sense when she starts building her harem. I honestly don’t even know what else to say about this series as it was so good. It had everything you need in a good RH and I wasn’t disappointed. This book keeps you on your toes and there were so many plot twists. I’m so glad I picked up this series.
