This is an interesting novella in the Star Wars Rebels canon. This is basically an adventure Ezra goes on right before the beginning of Spark of Rebellion, leading up to the opening shot of him at his home staring across the Lothal plains.
Ezra who's trying to make some quick cash while swindling and stealing everything he can from off-world tourists gets caught up helping a bounty hunter. It gives him a preview of what he'll do with the Ghost crew, and also hints at him longing to help others but feeling that he can't. It's a bit like Jedi Apprentice minus a Jedi, which may seem odd, but if you've read that series (I suggest you do) then you'll see what I mean.
All in all not the greatest Star Wars novella for kids, but still a good intro into Star Wars books for younger readers.

I love Rebels. Obviously, a quick read for an adult. Adds to the new Star Wars canon in a wonderful way. Fun to spend time with Bossk.

Nice prelude to Rebels
Reads like an episode of Rebels and gives a lighter side to Bossk. A quick read that's worth it if youre a fan of the show.

it was a very fun and solid little adventure that takes place right before Rebels. Lots of good little character moments for Ezra, and who DOESN'T love an adventure with Bossk??

Taking place before the events of Star Wars: Rebels, this story teams up Ezra Bridger with the notorious bounty hunter Bossk, who absolutely steals the show.
Bossk is loads of fun, and there is some good snarky interplay between him and Ezra and they are thrown into a succession of dangers when Bossk gets set up by a corrupt Imperial officer.
With the younger intended audience, the violence was toned down a bit (lots of "stun charges" were fired), but not entirely, and in the end the adventure definitely ran up a body count.
The pacing was fast, and there was a lot of clever action, especially on some high-speed chases through city streets. The villain was ruthless, although he fell into several classic villain tropes.
All said, this exceeded expectations, and Star Wars fans will likely find it a quick, fun read and a nice addition to the Rebels adventures.

Not a bad junior novel. The writing was reasonably fast-paced and in many ways, it felt very bond-esk. The ending was good but could have gone without trying too hard to connect to Star Wars: Rebels. I can think of so many other better wars it could have connected.
