this is my 13th book of the year isn't that fun lol

loved this! super fun adventure with thirteen and the fam. i felt they were all written super well in terms of dialogue and their actions. thirteen was especially fun and I loved her dialogue. have to give props to Sophie too because her voices for each of them (and her narration overall) were great, especially for jodie like that was spot on!

the story was super fun and spanned multiple planets and mini quests/adventures so was very fitting for a novel because it was too much for like a single episode but not really suited for a two parter either. each part of the story and their different settings were very engaging. it opens straight into action like media res in an adventure and the action continues throughout as we move to the main adventure of the story. the major part of the story involved looking for keys in different places across space and time.

The story was told from multiple character perspectives and we switch between them mid chapter but it's super easy to follow and pretty seamless and works well to show all characters feelings etc. we also got to see the characters work in multiple pairings and independently which i especially loved to see for yaz (because she's a lot smarter and intuitive than some fans give her credit for). my favourite part was for sure yaz exploring the tardis by herself and I loved seeing what it brought out in her and the way it messes with time in general was really interesting. yaz also got other opportunities to do things on her own and show how great she really is

I read this at the request of my 10-year-old, a huge Doctor Who fan. Quick and very entertaining read. He caught a lot of clever references; I caught more (I think) and the characters were all spot on.

Reading this book is a lot like watching a Doctor Who episode, which is fantastic and exactly what I wanted. Actually, it’s better than many recent episodes have been. I was laughing out loud several times. The book is really strong when all the characters are together, but the characters fall a bit flat when they go out on their own.

Fun, fast romp with some fairly decent humor thrown in.

This is no surprise to those who know me: I have a huge nerdy side. I really enjoyed Doctor Who: The Secret in Vault 13 by David Solomons. Within the pages of this book lies the Doctor Who trope Whovians have come to know and love. This helps to remind fans that, no matter what the Doctor may look like, it is still the Doctor. The spin having a woman as the Doctor in this book brings with her new companions is perfect and charming.

Often interesting and fun stories consistently interrupted by masturbatory "REMEMBER, FROM THE SHOW!!!!!????" moments that can last entire paragraphs and add nothing.

A little clunky, but very funny, with a great thirteenth Doctor vibe.
