Okay, I'm not shy about language however, the explicit description the MMC gives of what he wants to do sexually to the FMC is so opposite of his personality and how he talks the rest of the book that it takes the reader out of the story.

Cute and quick read, pretty good vibes all around. The spice was mostly hot but at some points I thought it was abit cringe but maybe that’s just me?

Hattedddd the MMC’s name I just couldn’t get over it and kept calling him Summer like the season, HOWEVER, that man had me gigglingggg for multiple reasons but mostly because he was a big weirdo
who fell first and harder (which I love)
.He kinda gave ‘Doberman boyfriend’ energy at first and then he’d go and say some outrageous stuff
especially during spicy parts
and I was kinda just like WTF LOL. In my annotations I literally put multiple times “why would he say that the big weirdo” but besides that I did actually like him.

Thought the FMC was a pretty cool and complex character considering it was only 144 pages long I felt like she had a lot of depth.
also liked how she had doubts about buying the bar as her original dream it felt more ‘real’
I think I probably favoured her because I also work in a bar / pub and could relate to her alot.

Only thing I would’ve liked to have seen more is the FMCs brother / friends it would’ve been interesting to explore the teams dynamic and stuff but I understand there’s only so much you can say in a novella.

I don’t know if I have related to a character as much as I do Britta in a really long time. I was in full tears at the end, because trust issues caused by a parent hit a little too close to home. The whole book is cute and funny, but damn that was an emotional sucker punch for me.

Romance, Fake Dating, MMC falls first, 3 1/2 🔥

“There’s even a chance I could trust him someday—and that? That would be an even bigger leap than love for me. Because I don’t know how to trust.”

“That letting people close meant opening myself up for an eventual blow that I won’t see coming. They will eventually choose someone else over me. They will decide tomove on, and I’ll be left lonely and reeling, wondering if I was the problem.”

If you’re looking for a quick steamy romance with a cinnamon roll MMC, marriage of convenience and he falls first tropes, then you might like this novella.

I like how supportive and patient Sumner (MMC) is towards Britta (FMC) who had trust issue with family and relationship.
Although, I admire Britta for having a close relationship with her half-brother, Bryce. It was a difficult decision especially remembering her situations and she handled it really well.

While I do like the sweet and supportive romance in here, I’m not entirely sure with the steamy scenes. It feels a little bit weird, especially the dialogue between the main characters during that part...

The problem with novella is that it’s usually too short and I was always craving for more out of the book, the same happen with this one.
I kinda wish the length is slightly longer to give room for the story and the characters to developed.
Moreover, I kinda wish the hockey part was shown a little bit more in this novella – I would like to know more about that.

Nevertheless at the end of it, I feel happy they got the ending they deserved with Britta finally ready to step out of her comfort zone and Sumner finally got his dream.

I received an advanced review copy for free through Netgalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Huge thank you to the author and publisher!

I wish the book was longer but overall it was adorable. These characters were very lovable and their story was sweet. P.S. don’t read the extended epilogue. It ruined the novela for me…
