i feel unqualified to rate smut in comparison to everything else i read, the standards feel completely different LOL (coming off of James by Percival Everett) - overall tho, my major markers- the plotline, smut, and characters were individually really good & i thoroughly enjoyed this read.

i loved Lincoln (obv) and while penny was a bit whiny (like they usually are 😭) she had her reasons and i respect that. i love each of the characters honestly - i’m not in a big hurry to go back and read Aiden’s story but i very well may but DAMN if i’m not anxiously awaiting a story for the twins. it was a slow start for me (like almost everything at this point) but when i picked up and started reading it, i finished in 2 days.

and goTDang lincoln carlson’s mouth šŸ˜‹ truly delicious

<b>ā€œWhat is your problem, Lincoln?ā€ my brother asks. Our pretty, unobtainable cousin. That’s my problem.</b>

I absolutely ate that up! Taboo romance, solid character growth, a man obsessed (<b>I open a browser and pathetically search for ways to make a woman fall in love with you, romantic gestures, and therapists’ offices near me</b>)- yes please!

-He Falls First
-He Falls Hard
-Grumpy x Sunshine
-Small Age Gap (36 x 29)
-Secret Relationship
-Anonymous Sexual Encounters
-Taboo Romance (Adopted Cousins)
-No Kissing Rule

Penny is struggling hard with her people pleasing and always needing to be the happy go lucky on (god forbid she's sad ever, someone might not like her!). Thankfully our girl is in therapy and working on herself. She decides she needs to take a break from men, and goes to a club looking for an anonymous hookup - hoping that without being able to see the guy, she won't be able to catch feelings.

Lincoln, middle child, while successful and appears to have it all from the outside, is still reeling four years later from a breakup that broke him more than he ever let on to others. He's a dick to everyone, family included, and he's just looking to get his release without a woman wanting more. Enter, the anonymous hookup - she can't fall for him if she doesn't know who he is.

The downfall neither saw coming - they both get hooked on one another FAST. It was a little bit of a stretch to accept that Linc falls for this mystery woman so quickly and so obsessively (let's be for real, we all knew Penny was gunna fall, that's why she never told her therapist her plans). Once they realize their mystery partner is each other, they're torn, they both want more, but it could get messy with their family. Penny is worried that if it all blew up in their face she'd lose the family (she's the adopted one) while Lincoln wants to shout it from the rooftops!

Sarah absolutely always hits for me! I flew through this book.

The characters, the spice and the forbidden romance was just perfectly done. Penny was so sweet and just wanted to find herself. I loved her vulnerability through her search and how Lincoln helped bring out the best in her.

Oh, Lincoln. I love a good broody MMC and he fit the bill. Though he showed the world such a cold exterior he had such a huge heart for those in his circle. The way he supported Penny and allowed her to grow and thrive was great. There was such a magnetism between the two of them and when the spice hit it was *Chef's kiss*.

This book was beautifully paced and I love Sarah's writing. I will say to know your triggers before going into this one. I really enjoyed this read and as always absolutely adore Sarah Blue.

4.5 stars (rounded up to 5 because Sarah is awesome)

Thank you so much for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
