MV Rating: 6/10 throwing me back to my teen years.

Special thanks to NetGalley for access to the advanced copy; the artwork is as captivating and minimalistic as the writer’s words.

•This collection is so beautifully simple, and captures so many angles of the loves we experience in life.
•I found myself bookmarking almost every poem as one I’d want to revisit again.
•Reading these poems, I found myself thinking “been there” or “ugh yes, same” so many times. That recognition of self is something the author even points to as a goal within part 3, and I think she’s more than accomplished it.
•Love is an onion with many layers, and I’m glad I’m not the only one who remembers how each one felt.

*Thank you NetGalley for providing this eARC, in exchange for an honest review*

I thought the poems were alright, they have potential and some of them were really good.
But they didn’t hit me with emotions, they were way to straightforward for my taste and I didn’t think they were very poetry ish. They were also very cliche, and is something that has been seen before.
I also didn’t like the way she read them up, I didn’t feel the emotion that should have been in them and I just didn’t like her voice and the way she read.

Such a beautiful collection of love poems

My Greenhouse is a simply beautiful poetry collection that depicts a love story and heartbreak. Each poem in the love story portion is titled with characteristics that her relationship possesses. The poems in the heartbreak section are titled with the flaws she didn't see or loved him through.

i try not to criticize poetry. however, this work simply did not resonate with me. it was plain. nearly every poem consisted of possessive words- “my” was repeated consistently. she uses mainstream words such as “baby”. it didn’t sit right with me. words such as these don’t have a place in poetry. mayo tried- and did not fail, per se- to write poetry, but it fell flat for me. i’m used to descriptive, deeply artistic poems. mayo’s “my greenhouse” was not that. it was straightforward and far from complex.

regardless, i applaud her efforts. it was her first work, after all.
